My Fall Juice Cleanse with OnJuice

Top Left: Before and after photos from my juice cleanse, Top Right: My final juice of the entire cleanse, Lower Left: Last day of the cleanse and feeling amazing, Lower Right: My first post-cleanse meal.
If you've been following me on Instagram or any other social network known to mankind, then you know that over the past three days I've been conducting a Fall/Winter juice cleanse to detoxify my body.  Despite the controversy that fashion people don't eat, indeed we do.  Over the course of the past few weeks, my daily coffee intake amongst other desserts (think caramel french macaroons and miniature cupcakes galore) significantly overcame me and my body began speaking to me.  It was telling me, Lynsee, a detox is in order.

Allow me to re-introduce OnJuice.

Although I've mentioned them before, OnJuice is my go-to when I need to cleanse my body of impurities and kickstart healthier choices once again.  Since I would like to categorize myself as a juicaholic, this time around I went with their Advanced Cleanse.  Ultimately, this detox materialized as a way for me to re-energize the body in the purest way.  Therefore, the Advanced Cleanse consisted of four nutrient-packed green juices, one lightly sweetened root juice (carrot and beet infused), and a detoxifying lemonade (also known as the Master Cleanse).  The best part about doing a juice cleanse is the amazing feeling that I receive upon completing one.  It's partially because it takes more willpower than anything, and the body feels fresh and alive once again.  Believe it or not, a juice cleanse is an exceptional way to receive benefits from the world's healthiest foods and experience medical healing properties as well.

If you're interested in detoxifying your body for the new season or simply have a desire to kickstart a healthier lifestyle, visit www.OnJuice.com and enter the promo code JUICELIFE for 20% OFF a cleanse!

Health and Beauty Tips: How to Hydrate After Travel

Upon descending from travel escapades and endless consumption of restaurant cuisine, the body and skin screams "help me!"  Undoubtedly, part of vacationing includes a little indulging of course.  Post-wanderlust there comes a time for the body to reboot and replenish; therefore, incorporation of this one ingredient into a routine can possibly change your life.  Believe it or not, coconut water has infinite health benefits aside from the fact that it's low in calories, has more potassium than four bananas, and it's ultra hydrating.

I've teamed up with Zico Premium Coconut Water to showcase how I include coconut water in various parts of my post-travel routine during the Summer.  Crack Life Open with ZICO and live positively through healthy lifestyle choices.  They don't have to be gut-wrenching challenges, but taking small steps to a healthier life can enhance positivity.

The morning after coming back home from a long trip, I incorporate a coconut water face mask or toner into my morning skincare routine. Combining ZICO Premium Coconut Water with cucumber juice and raw milk (equal parts) really helps hydrate the face. Additionally, adding ZICO Premium Coconut Water with pineapple juice creates a beautiful glow that brightens up the face after taking in various toxins while traveling.

I also like to start my day off with a delicious “green voyage” smoothie, which includes a few handfuls of spinach along with a half of a frozen banana and one cup of
ZICO Premium Coconut Water for a deliciously hydrating beverage. Traveling usually causes dehydration, so adding coconut water into dishes throughout the day gives the body a nice boost as well.

A few other favorite hydrating recipes include:

2) Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Popsicles

Blend together about 3 cups of fresh strawberries along with 1 cup of ZICO Premium Coconut Water, pour into a popsicle mold and freeze until hardened.  Once they are frozen, dip them into 75% Cacao Dark Chocolate for a Summer treat that will hydrate and cure a sweet tooth.

3) Coconut Pad Thai with Fresh Vegetables

Mix a Tablespoon of peanut butter with a teaspoon of Sriracha sauce and 1 Tablespoon of honey.  Add a 1 Tablesppon of grated ginger and a clove of garlic.  Sauté two cups of fresh vegetables, a bag of kelp noodles, and 1 cup of ZICO Premium Coconut Water until softened.  Pour the sauce over the pad thai mixture.  This is the perfect post-traveling Summer dish.

This post was sponsored by ZICO through their partnership with POPSUGAR. While I was compensated by POPSUGAR to write a post about ZICO, all opinions are my own.

Bikini Slim Down Results with DeliverLean

For those who don't know, I began a "Bikini Slim Down" with DeliverLean about one month ago and the benchmark is almost up for completion.   This can only mean one thing - it's time to share my results.  Let me preface this by stating that I am only sharing my results to give readers an idea of what to expect from eating clean with DeliverLean's meal plan and living a healthy lifestyle.  Additionally, staying active is added into the mix of a slim down because the pair go hand in hand.

DIET
My meal plan with DeliverLean primarily consisted of pescatarian and vegan options with no gluten.  Cold-pressed OnJuice juices and raw desserts were also added to my plan, which made it even better.

A typical day of my meal plan:
Breakfast - Cultured coconut yogurt parfait with organic granola, mango, blueberries and raw cashews
Lunch - Candy corn salad with corn, grapefruit, mandarin oranges, hearts of palm and vinaigrette
Dinner - Herb mahi scallopine, quinoa cake and lemon dijon kale
Dessert - Gluten-free molten chocolate lava cake

WORKOUT REGIMEN
Each morning, I performed a P90X3 workout (30 minutes) followed by 200 squats and a walk to the park with my little guy.  I also incorporated ab-focused exercises in the evenings, such as Tone It Up.

SLIM DOWN TIPS
1) Drink a glass of water upon waking up to speed up metabolism
2) Drink a detoxifying tea in the evening

RESULTS
Over the span of a month, I slimmed and toned my body while losing 2 inches in my waistline and about 8 pounds.

Lose Weight for the Summer with Style By Lynsee & DeliverLean

Summertime usually means one of two things -  it's time to slim down to fit in that tiny bikini (or man-kini) or hibernate from all pools and beaches.  If you're anything like me, this doesn't quite hit you until May rolls around the corner and then it slaps you in the face that the time has come to shed those last 5 - 10 pounds.  Upon strategizing how to lose the weight, I was introduced to DeliverLean.  DeliverLean is a premier gourmet meal delivery company in South Florida that offers clean and fresh meals delivered to your doorstep.

As a pescatarian who tends to stray away from gluten and occasionally enjoys vegan dishes, I found it extremely helpful that the healthy food delivery service offers custom meal plans to fit my diet.  I usually cook my meals at home to save my body from any added preservatives; however, DeliverLean provides preservative-free meals prepared by gourmet chefs.  Let's face it, I'm a health freak and if you follow my Instagram then you probably already knew this by now.

When I received my first delivery on Monday, it felt like Christmas.  I stumbled out of bed and opened the front door to find a cooler filled with prepared meals for the next two days, and it was all completely healthy.  DeliverLean provides drop-offs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The meals are 250 - 400 calories each, containing lean proteins, low-glycemic carbohydrates, high-fiber organic fruits and vegetables and healthy fats.   DeliverLean also brews up raw, cold-pressed OnJuice juices which may be added to a meal plan as well.  Aside from my meal plan, I also track daily consumption on an app called MyFitnessPal which allows you to record everything consumed with nutritional information included.

Let's get to the good stuff,  my meal plan...which has been incredibly delicious.

A typical two-day delivery under my meal plan includes:

Breakfast
Gluten-Free Caramel Apple French Toast with Coconut Yogurt
Southwestern Tofu Scramble with Peppers, Onions and Sweet Potato Latke

Gluten-Free Caramel Apple French Toast with Coconut Yogurt
Lunch
Brussel Sprouts & Kale Salad with Toasted Sunflower Seeds and Coconut Dressing
Wild Mushroom and Caramelized Shallots Quesadilla with Vegan Cheese and Tomato Bruschetta

Dinner
Vegan Panang Curry Tofu with Winter Veggies and Brown Rice
Pescatarian Balsamic Snapper with Wild Rice Pilaf, Broccoli and Onions

Pescatarian Balsamic Snapper with Wild Rice Pilaf, Broccoli and Onions
Dessert
Desserts may be added to a meal plan, and range from 90 to 300 calories per dish.  Let's just say I almost died after trying the Gluten-Free Chocolate Molten Cake.
Raw Vegan Chocolate Mint Tart
Low-Fat Strawberry Cheesecake

Prior to beginning my summer meal plan, I measured and weighed myself so I'll be sharing results on my social networks.  For those who are looking to join the slim down for bikini season challenge with me, sign up for one month and receive two free days here!

Healthy Habits: How to Prepare for a Juice Cleanse

how to prepare for a juice cleanse, juice cleanse, juice cleansing, love grace, style by lynsee, health, healthy, healthy cleanse, how to do a cleanse, what to do before a juice cleanse, style by lynsee, fashion blogger, miami, new york blogger, youtube, youtuber, healthy youtube channel, lynsee hee kyeong, tips for weightloss, how to lose weight, diet, wellness, how to eat healthy

The best way to start off a new season is by detoxifying the body for a refreshing transformation, which is a typical routine in "casa de Lynsee."  Juice cleansing has become quite the "trend" throughout the nation, but it often gets misconstrued regarding its purpose.  Many people have an assumption that by doing a juice cleanse means that a weight loss of 50 pounds in two weeks will occur.  It is true that by doing any type of detox cleanse some weight loss is bound to happen; however, most of it is water weight.  Additionally, the main purpose of a juice cleanse is to allow the body to heal itself.

After consuming multiple juice cleanses over this past year, I've learned that it truly helps give my body time to heal after putting toxins in my body and get back on the healthy eating track.  For example, I was eating my fair share of pizza and cupcakes prior to the approach of Spring.  Therefore, a juice cleanse was necessary for my body.  My body and mind felt fatigued and I lost focus, but after a seasonal detox I felt amazing.

The thought of not chewing on anything edible for three days is quite frightening, especially for juice cleansing first-timers.  Hence, my latest video "How to prepare for a juice cleanse."  Check it out and let me know if you dare to try it out!  Trust me, you will feel amaze balls afterwards.

Despite the sudden cold rush that recently hit what seems like the entire nation, I have discovered the most comfortable swimwear collection that is my must-have item for a little "spring break" traveling.  The Mi Ola collection compiles vibrant colors with the sophisticated style and inspiration from tropical nature in Tamarindo, Costa Rica (think - the ocean, palm trees, gorgeous macaws, and tropical flowers).  I don't know about anybody else, but when I'm searching for the perfect bikini it must have:

1) A snug fit that won't shift when I'm playing with son in the sand or ocean

2) A chic and sexy design that doesn't look like I'm rocking granny panties

3) Adjustable bottoms (just in case I have too many vegan cupcakes one day)

After discovering the Mi Ola collection, I had the chance to find out the inspiration behind the beautiful swimwear from Founder of Mi Ola, Helena Fogarty. Helena expressed,

"I started Mi Ola because I needed a chic, sexy suit that would stay on while I surfed.  I couldn't find any!  I have a background in fashion and business, so I decided to make the beach better for women and design a line that combines high style, high quality and high function.  We don't have to wear granny pants on the beach to make sure our assets are covered.  And actually, if we do, those big bottoms often come down more easily in the waves!"

Healthy Habits: How to do a 3-Day Juice Cleanse

A great way to kick off the New Year is by detoxifying the body of excess junk that builds up over time and cleansing.  Right before New Year's Eve, I did an at-home 3-day juice cleanse and posted my results on my Facebook and Instagram channels.  Despite the typical iPhone/mirror photography, I received plenty of feedback from viewers and friends who were interested in cleansing and asked questions such as:

What is a juice cleanse?
How long do you cleanse for?
What recipes do you use to cleanse?
What can I expect from a cleanse?
What should I do before I begin cleansing?
Will it help me lose weight?

Therefore, I put together this video encompassing my 3-day juice cleanse experience and how I went about performing one in-home.  Feel free to ask any questions and let me know if you decide to try it out!  Tweet or instagram me your before/after photos with the hashtag #HealthyHabitsWithLynsee

Fab to Fit Series: Episode 3: What I Eat

Happy Halloween!  In continuation with my "Fab to Fit Series," it only felt right that I share Episode 3 with you on a day where we are all tempted by sweet treats.  Although everything is perfectly fine in moderation, maintaining a clean diet is something that I have personally found to be beneficial for my body.  Therefore, limiting the amount of gluten or dairy is a large part of what helped me develop a balance that made me feel good on the inside and outside.

Drinking a gallon of water per day has helped me learn when my body is craving fluid rather than food by drinking a full glass of water before and after each meal.  Another tip that helps me stay consistent is the MyFitnessPal app which allows you to upload your daily food, water and exercise intake.  It's available for the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android, and Windows.

I am often asked what my diet consists of or what types of healthy foods I have eaten to help maintain a healthy body, so I put this episode together to give an idea of what a typical day in the life my diet consists of (even though no day is ever the same).

Friday Favorites: Healthy Habits - Comfort Food Swaps

Happy Friday guys and dolls.  Although eating healthy is not always the most exciting for some, it doesn't have to be dreadful.  There are a number of substitutions that you can utilize when you have a special craving for comfort food, whether it is sweet or savory.  Next time your stomach is screaming for something comforting, keep these in mind.  Enjoy ;)

1) French Fries
The thought of fried potatoes sounds delicious in your head, but it doesn't always agree with your body.  Therefore, a quick and easy swap for this common comfort food is to exchange it for sweet potatoes that have been soaked in cold water and baked at 375 degrees until crispy and golden.

2) Macaroni and Cheese
Macaroni and cheese has been instilled in the minds of everyone ever since they were children.  No?  Maybe that's just me.  The trick to swapping this one is to opt for whole wheat pasta (penne or shells) and incorporate butternut squash mixed with a little fat free half-and-half and Laughing Cow low-fat cheese.  Butternut squash has a rich flavor and consistency that gives that added touch.

3) Ice Cream
Ice cream is a girl's go-to breakup dessert or the end all to flat abs.  Ben & Jerry's came out with a delicious swap for the fat packed original version, which is low fat frozen GREEK yogurt.  It has over half the calories and it still tastes delicious.

4) Spaghetti and Meatballs
Rather than adding all of the oil and carbohydrate packed pasta in your typical spaghetti and meatballs, a great swap is to make meatballs with ground turkey breast and mix it with whole wheat spaghetti and your favorite marinara sauce.  I tend to make my own sauce, rather than the store bought kind.

5) Pizza
Pizza is my all time favorite comfort food...or food, ever.  A few things to keep in mind when consuming pizza is to make sure the crust is whole wheat or gluten free and very thin.  You can make it at home using a whole wheat tortilla, some marinara sauce, low fat mozzarella cheese and your favorite vegetable toppings (or turkey pepperoni).

Healthy Habits: My Slimming Secrets to Fit in Your Favorite Jeans This Fall

Along with the fall season upon us comes all of the tempting foods and delicious desserts throughout the holidays.  Although it can be difficult to avoid stuffing your face with all of the yummy foods, I have some of my favorite slimming secrets that will help you fit in your favorite skinny jeans during the fall season.  I'm not doing this because I am some sort of fitness expert, but more so to give you some insight on what worked for me in losing weight and keeping fit.  Taking care of your body is imperative to your health and I believe it promotes self-confidence and beauty as well.

Tip #1: Begin your day with a lean protein shake.
Rather than bulking up on a heavy breakfast loaded with carbs, like pancakes, choose to drink a lean protein shake (like Beachbody's Shakeology or GNC Lean Shake).  It will keep you satisfied until lunch time and boosts your protein intake.  Add a small fruit serving as well (i.e. a small apple or banana).

Tip #2: Eat slowly.
When you're consuming a meal, it's always helpful if you chew your food slowly because it gives your brain enough time to realize that you really are full.  Trust me, it works.  When you're eating during the holidays, choose foods that have less oil/butter and stay away from fried foods.

Tip #3: Drink a glass of water before and after each meal.
Believe it or not, drinking a glass of water before and after each meal will also help with your "sense of hunger" and it's great for your skin!

Tip #4: Go fishing.
Instead of eating red meat consistently, opt for fish because it's lower in calories than other protein selections.  I typically go for grilled tilapia or salmon and fill my plate with bright vegetables.

Tip #5: Soup, soup, soup.
Eating soup is beneficial because it helps you feel full longer and regulate calorie-intake.  However, don't get confused with cream-based soup which is full of fat and calories.  Choose a broth-based soup and put a cap on the broccoli and cheese or clam chowder.

I hope these tips have helped you, and remember to stay away from the Halloween candy (okay, maybe a little is acceptable).
