Day In The Life In Miami: Food, Video Shoot + American Ninja Warrior Workout

I'm going to be one of those typical moms and say that I can't believe it's been nearly six years, and my son graduated Kindergarten. Thankfully, I didn't cry or get all sappy on his last day. However, I did transform into a 10-year-old child at the Ninja Lounge. Coincidentally, I also shot the most recent episode of The Unstoppable Series (where I am indeed a ninja) alongside Bad Ass Vegan, Poetic J, and more. Press play, and let me know what you think!

Last-minute DIY Valentine's Day gifts

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, as in directly creeping around the corner, and one of the most asked questions is what to purchase for a significant other.  DIY Valentine's Day gifts are not only affordable, but they typically mean much more to whoever may be receiving them because there was some thought put into creating them.  Therefore, here is a video incorporating four different DIY gift ideas for a man or woman:

1) A custom box of chocolates

2) An at-home date night box

3) Sweet vouchers

4) A custom "sweet letter"

See how to create these DIY Valentine's Day gifts here:

Video: Hunger Games Catching Fire Inspired Tutorial - CoverGirl Makeup + Nails

As many of you may already know, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie releases on November 22nd as the sequel to the epic Hunger Games trilogy which is based on the novel that has sold over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.  If you haven't seen the fire Hunger Games movie (perhaps you have been living under a rock), then I highly suggest checking it out prior to November 22nd.  Although a science fiction themed movie may not sound appealing to some, the movie has actually sparked quite the stir in the fashion and beauty world.  The upcoming movie not only features handmade designs but also pieces by Alexander McQueen, Juun J, Nicholas K, and Tex Saverio.

Aside from the fashion, legendary music icon Lenny Kravitz and celebrated actor Jeffrey Wright will star alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymor Hoffman, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.

In the spirit of the The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opening, I've recreated the District 2/Masonry look from CoverGirl's "Capitol Beauty Studio" which features 12 district looks inspired by the movie.  It's an edgy, yet sultry look that can be worn as both dramatic or casual.  Dotti, CoverGirl Capitol Makeup Artist says of the inspiration behind this look,
" I went for a matte, chalky, yet elegant finish that represents the stone of Masonry in a feminine way."

Key Products used in the Video:

Pantene Medium-Thick Gel
Big Sexy Hair Spray Clay
Splat Hair Chalk

CoverGirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation - 320 and 342

Video: How to Style Denim featuring Bloomingdale's

Over the weekend, I was invited by Frankie B Jeans to view the Fall 2013 collection available at Bloomingdale's department stores.  Daniella Clark, the beautiful woman behind this edgy and sexy denim line, was at Bloomingdale's Aventura showcasing her new pieces while guests mingled and sipped on Cosmopolitan or chocolate martinis.  Daniella launched Frankie B. in 1999, and its authenticity and legitimacy as the glam gal's go-to denim collection quickly solidified.

Her denim collection features studded detailing, textures, vibrant prints and colors, as well as the most unbelievably comfortable material!  After trying them on for the first time, I couldn't believe how good they felt.  Denim is a versatile material that can be dressed up or down for various occasions.

Sporty Chic Look + a GIVEAWAY to Meet Jillian Michaels & Shaun T (CLOSED)

Although my outfits are typically dressed up, I decided to play around with the sporty look and feel for today's look of the day.  Focusing on these paneled House of Dion pants, I went for a more structured approach by cinching layered tops at the waist with a leather belt by ASOS.  The cinched belt adds a feminine touch that creates a balance between sporty and chic.

This look is really great for those who have a smaller frame because it accentuates the top and hip area to give a curvaceous appeal.  My inspiration for this look derives from my love for health and fitness, which I really wanted to merge into a uniform outfit.  Pairing a sporty piece such as paneled pants, a sporty skirt or shorts with a feminine top can really create a polished look.

Video: Back to School Series Lookbook

Although the days of going "back to school" passed, one of my favorite memories of prepping for the new school years was shopping and/or styling new outfits for the first week.  Continuing with my Back to School Series, I compiled a lookbook featuring various outfits for different types of styles that can be worn during the first week of school.

If florals and girly accents are your thing, then the feminine and flirty look may be your best choice.  On the other hand, sometimes rocking a loose-fitting top and denim shorts can be so comfortable yet chic at the same time.  For the daring, I put together a bright and vibrant look that brings the best of both worlds.

Details for all outfits can be viewed on my blog:

Video: What's in my Travel Bag + Light Packing Tips

I'm not the only girl in the universe that packs entirely too much when packing for a trip or vacation, am I?  Great, I didn't think so.  In lieu of writing a boring blog post about my "top 10 tips for travel packing," I filmed a quick video that sheds some light on how exactly I pack for trips while attempting to avoid throwing everything that I own into a suitcase.  Although I typically pack more for vacations, this is how I pack a very basic travel bag for taking trips home to see my family.  What are some of your essentials that you must pack with you for every trip?

Style By Lynsee Light Packing Tips:
  • Roll up T-shirts or basic tops to conserve space
  • Take a comfortable pair of flat shoes, a basic black heel and one dressy pair of heels
  • Pack travel-sized hair products and skincare items
  • Bring versatile clothing pieces that may be styled various ways (for ex. a basic white tee, skinny jeans, distressed shorts, a black blazer, a printed mini skirt, etc.)
  • Only take the necessary cosmetics (not your entire collection)
  • Pack a set of hot rollers or only one hot tool

New Video: How to Pamper Yourself with a DIY Girl's Night In

Every girl needs a little R&R (rest and relaxation) once in awhile.  Am I right or am I right?  On those Sunday nights when I just want to stay at home and relax, I enjoy creating my own little "DIY Girl's Night In" by making my home a spa in itself.  This would also be a great idea to try out with your closest girl friends by inviting them over for a cozy night in.

No "Girl's Night In" would be complete without:

Check out my "How to Pamper Yourself: DIY "Girl's Night In" video and let me know if you try it out!

New Video: Magnetic Nail Tutorial

As I'm sitting here drinking my coffee, I'm reminiscing about the high school years when I used to put so much effort into painting my nails and creating special designs on each nail.  Nowadays, I don't really have plenty of time to sit down to do them so that's why I've been utilizing Sally Hansen's wondrous inventions (Sally Hansen nail strips are like the miraculous nail makeover for mothers especially).  I recently discovered their latest product, Magnetic Nail Color, which is a nail polish that allows you to create a design on your nails using a magnet.  Therefore, I decided to do a nail tutorial for you ladies (and maybe event some gentlemen too)!

What I love about this product is that it's simple to use and dries quickly as well.  If you're really in a hurry, you can always spray your nails with a quick-drying finishing spray to speed up the process a bit.  The magnetic nail polish adds some depth to your nails and comes in fall colors as well.  I also give a brief recap on my most recent event that I attended, Gilt City Miami's Warehouse Sale which was so much fun.  Check it out below:
