Amongst the Art Basel chaos in Miami last week, I had quite the relaxing experience with Lacoste for their private blogger brunch held at Cecconi's in Soho Beach House.  Originally debuted in Venice with sisters in London and West Hollywood, Cecconi's is truly an acclaimed Italian dining destination with elegantly delicious food.

Aside from the amazing food and peach bellinis, the purpose of this blogger brunch was to give us a preview of LACOSTE's collaborative art installation that was designed specifically for its Lincoln Road boutique by artist Mark A. Reigelman II.  The installation, titled "Rockodile," drew inspiration from the diet of American crocodiles which consisted of over 5,500 black rocks suspended in the windows of LACOSTE's boutique.  Each rock was made from 100% post-consumer materials and the rocks were illuminated by a phosphorescent green glow in the evening.  From December 5th to December 8th, onlookers could see Reigelman installing his piece during Basel season.

On Sunday, Reigelman also hosted an in-store brunch to showcase the completed work of Rockodile in LACOSTE.  As he mentioned,

"My research focused on American Crocodiles from their history and physical characteristics to their eating and sleeping habits.  I was especially struck by one particular fact: crocodiles eat rocks!  The weight of the rocks, interestingly, assists with swimming, diving and buoyancy.  This contrary notion of floating rocks is the foundation of Rockodile."

Who knew that eating rocks could be so beneficial?  Perhaps we should all consider grubbing on a few rock appetizers here and there.

Miami Swim Week Recap I: Cosmo Splash + ASOS Penthouse

Miami Swim Week featured a number of fabulous events, highlighting sexy swimwear and beautiful models in sunny Miami.  A few of fashion-goers' favorite events during Mercedes-Benz Swim Week included the much anticipated Cosmopolitan en Espanol Summer Splash event at the SLS Hotel and ASOS Penthouse at Soho Beach House.

As Latin celebrity guests paraded into the 7th annual Cosmo Summer Splash on the pink carpet, swimwear models were back stage preparing for the heated up runway with Pantene Pro-V heat-resistant and humidity proof products.  Ciroc and Peroni provided fashion-saavy socialites with signature cocktails prior to the runway showcasing of nationally known swimwear designs by Samsara Imports, Inca, Eberjey, Zingara, Fitsico, Cuban Rice, Maya Swimwear and Papi Underwear (menswear).

The UK's largest independent online fashion and beauty retailer, ASOS, invited select attendees to ASOS's official Penthouse Party at Miami Swim this year.  Located at the private and chic Soho Beach House, the ASOS Penthouse was filled with Miami's most elite guests.  Soho Beach House is a private members club, hotel and spa located in the historic site of the Sovereign Hotel and overlooks the ocean with two pool areas.

Guests sipped on exclusively designed Corzo + Red Bull + Perrier cocktails while music by IO ECHO and NANCY WHANG of LCD SOUNDSYSTEM resonated throughout the upper pool deck area.  What Miami Swim Week party would be complete without some glam swag bags and an ASOS photo booth to snap photos?

Cosmopolitan Summer Splash 2012 Event Recap - Miami Swim Week

As many of you may know, this past week was Miami Swim Week/Fashion Week and the city of Miami Beach was packed with fashionistas from all over the nation.  I received a private invitation to attend this year's Cosmopolitan Summer Splash event which was presented by Pantene and of course Cosmopolitan Magazine.  I attended the event a few years ago when it was held at the Setai Hotel but this year's runway showcasing was at an even better venue, Soho Beach House.  It was the perfect setting to host a swimwear fashion show as the venue featured an elongated pool outside with appropriate seating areas for guests.  It was a fabulous event!

Furthermore, each seated guest received a custom Cosmopolitan tote bag with the following goodies inside:

1 Cosmopolitan beach towel
1 Samsara Imports bangle
1 bottle of Pantene moisturizer and styler
2 CoverGirl Blast Flipsticks (in Glimmer Lueur and Vixen Seductrice shades)
1 new issue of Cosmopolitan magazine
1 pair of Cosmopolitan sunglasses
