Olay 28-Day Challenge: Results

It has been said that it takes at least three weeks to form a habit, and I've learned that with consistency comes results. I've teamed up with Olay to complete the 28-Day Challenge using only two products. Therefore, over the course of 28 days I replaced all facial moisturizers and eye creams with the following two-step regimen:

Step 1: AM apply the Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15
Step 2: AM and PM apply Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel

BEFORE // Day 1: My skin had many imperfections and blemishes, with oily residue.

When I first began this journey, I honestly wasn't expecting to achieve results so early in the process. However, by day 7 my skin was already visibly healthier looking. My skin appearance began looking more even and I looked less tired throughout the day.

By day 14, my skin felt moisturized and hydrated throughout the day. Aside from that, both products made my skin feel cared for and I really looked forward to putting them on each day. It was almost like a therapeutic ritual that I enjoyed each morning and night.

AFTER // Day 28

At the end  the 28 days, my skin looked and felt much healthier to say the least. It's incredible how integrating one daily habit into my life was seemingly so easy and effective. What I noticed about the Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15 is that it evened my skin tone and appearance, and brought out a brighter glow. I also noticed a difference in minimizing my pores and reducing dark spots on my face. I don't know about you guys, but I don't get enough sleep each night. Being a busy mom, I receive about five hours of sleep per night if I'm lucky enough. Hence, the skin under my eyes is often dry and puffy. By using the Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel each morning and night, the skin under my eyes were hydrated and the delicate skin plumped. The cooling formula also helped fight visible signs of fatigue and under eye dehydration lines.

Therefore, I encourage you to join the journey with a visit to an Olay Skin Advisor so that you can experience the easy no-brainer skin regimen too. An Olay Skin Advisor is the most precise skin diagnosis known to public (after using Skin Advisor, 95% of women agreed that product recommendations felt "right for her") and can provide you with a personalized skincare regimen. The first 15 readers to visit will receive $40 off their purchase of recommended products!

Beauty Bit: Frequent Flyer Skincare

Up next on the agenda is yet another trip to New York City, so packing up the essential beauties are a must.  Typically, I rotate skincare products every three months unless I find one that I simply can't live without.  My current routine incorporates Gavee Gold's Gold Citrus Cleanse to clear out the pores and get rid of the nasty airplane surprises that creep in through my face (yes I know this sounds delicious).  While airborne, spraying a sequence of the Gold Citrus Mist hydrates my face and offers a refreshing feeling throughout the entire flight.  Liquid Gold Peptides followed by the Heart of Gold Elixir keep me from looking like I'm dying after 3 hours of sleep and walking 15 miles around the Big Apple, with their brightening and tightening agents.  As a side note, the Heart of Gold Elixir legitimately has authentic gold flakes in it.  Finally, a hefty coating of the Royal Day/Night Cream seals everything in and moisturizes the face for the entire day or night.

Once I finish my travels, I religiously apply the Diamond Cell Salt Polish to remove any dead skin cells that accumulate over time.  The first time I tried this, a layer of dead skin peeled off my face in a refreshing way.  Don't worry, your face won't fall off.  It will actually reveal a more beautiful "you."

My Favorite Fall Skincare Line

One of my favorite new skincare discoveries for the fall season is Luv Ya Skincare, which is a comprehensive face line that offers formulations using natural active botanicals and pure essential oils.  I typically stick to Clean & Clear or Neutrogena for my daily facial cleanser, but after trying out this line I was highly impressed with the quality of ingredients in the products.

Luv Ya Skincare's Vitamin A Pumpkin Cleanser is like pumpkin pie in a bottle - seriously.  Applying this cleanser felt as if my face was devouring dessert, while providing nutrition to the face that firms and tightens.  Containing key ingredients such as Vitamin A and Beta Carotene, the formula left my skin feeling fresh and smooth.

After testing out the cleanser, I applied Luv Ya Skincare's Balancing Toner which helped cleanse a little deeper in the pores and really brightened up my face.  The toner contains a powerful ingredient, witch hazel, that I have used in the past and find it to effectively clean out my pores.

Aside from cleansing and toning, the skincare line digs a little deeper to refine the face and purify skin.  I also tried out the Kukui Nut Scrub as an exfoliator, which contains a volcanic source to wipe away dead cells without harsh abrasion.  I've used a lot of exfoliators that feel like my face is being ripped off, but this one is mild enough while still removing the dead skin with ease.  A few other favorites of mine are the C+ Collagen Serum and the Collagen Mask which made my skin feel absolutely amazing and gave my face a glow!  My skin is oily and sometimes skincare lines don't work well with my type, but Luv Ya Skincare really impressed me with the quick results.

As for daytime products, the SPF 30+ Moisturizer was the perfect enriching hydrator to put on under my makeup AND it blends well with cosmetics.  Do any of you know what I'm talking about?  There's nothing worse than applying a moisturizer that leaves your makeup looking like a greasy mess.  However, the SPF 30+ moisturizer contains no oil, which worked heavenly with my skin type.

At night, I tried out the Intensive Eye Cream with Murumuru (I had no idea what this was prior to trying it out, but it's a fruit from the amazon rainforest rich in nutrition and moisture).  Let's just say I went to sleep with dark circles under my eyes and woke up looking refreshened.

I'm not the type to give good product reviews for products that I don't honestly think highly of, so believe me when I say that the quality of Luv Ya Skincare is amazing!  If you are looking for a new skincare line for the new season, check it out at LuvYaSkin.com

DIY: Facial Scrub

As I mentioned in my Snapshot blog post, I would be posting my recipe for the DIY facial scrub that I used over the weekend.  It's made from everyday ingredients that you most likely have somewhere in your kitchen (and you could even eat it if you desire to do so)!  This will last for multiple facials as well, so you can keep it for future use.

What's in the scrub:
1 cup of brown sugar
1 Tablespoon of half-and-half
1/2 cup of honey
Optional: Thinly sliced cucumbers for your eyes

How to put it all together:
1) Gather all of your ingredients together.

2) Pour honey into a bowl containing brown sugar.

3) Add half-and-half.

4) Stir the mixture to form a consistent mixture.

5) Lie down in your robe or sit in a nice bubble bath, place some cucumbers over your eyes (to brighten them up), light some candles, and relax!
