The New Icons

So here I am, on a rooftop, in a knotted-tee and bandage skirt.  It turns out Winter in Miami isn't so bad. As a result, my daily wardrobe tends to consist of my beloved crop tops and short shorts (or in this case, a skirt) to give my Summer pieces some relevance once again.  Although I've never really been the woman to check the weather prior to stepping outside, so I usually just throw on these basics and hope for the best.  When in doubt, throw on a graphic tee and a bandage skirt (to suck everything in) and call it a day.

Miami Heat

The weekend is creeping around the corner, which means it's time to paint the town red.  As another week discontinues, stepping out in a complete black ensemble is an absolute essential look for any woman.  When in doubt, pair something leather with a red lip and trek on.  One can't go wrong with a Rita Ora signature lip and black on black.  One of my favorite aspects of residing in Miami Beach is the option to wear spaghetti-thin strapped tops and thigh-baring leather skits only a few short days after New Year's.  It's quite grandiose if you ask me.

This sexy skirt ℅ of Hot Miami Styles is a new favorite of mine, as it bares a little skin without sacrificing your dignity and allows for flexibility.  Attempting to walk around Miami Beach in a pencil skirt can be next to impossible, but the high slit on this one keeps it comfortable.

It's a complete conundrum how it's already 2015, at the drop of a dime.  You expect to wake up after celebrating New Year's Eve with a bright new perspective on life, a workout plan to get that six-pack and perfect booty, and live for the day.  Then you realize that it's just like any other day.  With that, I'm going to kick off the new year tying up loose ends and refusing to create a resolution, but rather continue to focus on new business and growth.

As one year comes to a close and another commences, I look back on how my style has evolved over time and it's usually quite entertaining to skim through.  Either way, it's amusing to go back in time to catch a glimpse of what was occurring in my life at that moment.

GUESS Holiday in New York City

There's something beautiful about melding fashion exclusivity with New York glamour, which is why I'm excited to announce the latest project that I've been working on. GUESS recently invited me for a night of glamour in New York City, where myself and a few other influencers were "glammed" up and laced in the new GUESS holiday collection. I'm overly fascinated with vibrant reds for Fall/Winter, so I instantly selected the Off Shoulder Corset Dress for our photo shoot at The Griffin.

There's something alluring about a peek of shoulder and a little leg that makes the corset dress essential for a girl's night out. To accessorize the look, I paired it with a Sunrise rose gold watch, Greyson satchel bag, and Cayen heels (which just might be the most comfortable pair of high heels existing in my closet).

The photo shoot was so much fun with the girls, complete with gold confetti for days! Check out photos from the shoot below, and get some glam inspiration for your upcoming holiday parties.

Jaunty in Denim

If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably already are quite aware that I recently landed in my hometown for a fairly long trip (two weeks nonetheless) to see my family.  Despite feeling like I was freezing what body parts I had left, it was a relaxing time spent.  It's refreshing to be home, as it gives me time to sit still for a second.  Lounging, in the sartorial and physical senses, has never been something I have been incredibly well at accomplishing.  With that being said, jumpsuits or one-pieces are my go-to for casual wear.  What's even better than a jumpsuit?  A denim one of course.

On a sunny 10 o'clock in the Midwest, standing in 30-degree weather, this little number kept me nice and cozy while still attempting to remain chic in these lace-up metallic booties.

The Leather Brigade

Upon careful consideration of Fall/Winter wardrobe staple apparel pieces, denim and leather have seemingly fallen into place.  Also known as the "new classics," denim and leather pair perfectly well together for a sexy and edgy look.  The force behind styling a ready-to-wear street look is to select garments and change the traditional way of wearing them drastically.  Instead of a thick denim shirt with casual jeans, lightweight chambray button-ups, or leather overlays and ankle booties to show a peek of that ankle cleavage (is that even a fashion term?).

Whatever you do, add some standout accessories to polish it off and boom - biker chic just happened.

Against the Grain

In lieu of going along with the typical "no white after Labor Day" fashion stigma, I've teamed up with fresh and vibrant brand, Missguided, for this monochromatic look.  Although I'm a firm believer in taking inspiration from various avenues when it comes to wardrobe selections, Fall/Winter in Miami isn't exactly grounds for wearing five layers of clothes with dark color swatches only.  Lo and behold, Lynsee is wearing white after Labor Day and it feels pretty damn fabulous (and breathable).

Contrasting cuts of this crop top and pencil skirt give the overall look an interesting appeal that keep one from looking like marshmallow man, and the gray skyscraper heels introduce that Fall gray trend without going overboard.  A great way to introduce trends into your wardrobe is by incorporating it in through accessories.

After an entirely overloaded weekend which left me with a borderline stuffy nose and barely attainable sore throat, I am pushing forward for a new week in this lightweight blue romper.  Aside from its wearable personality, it's comfortably as if there's a layer of air touching my skin as I walk (which may be slightly adventurous for the mere feeling of being nude throughout the day).  Needless to say, rompers or jumpsuits are what I gravitate toward when I simply need to wear clothing and have no motivation to piece together multiple items.

What are some pieces that you wear on easy, breezy days?

Dressing Up Jeans

Oddly enough, I rarely wear jeans (which I briefly discussed in a previous post) for the mere fact that my hips are wide and I find it utterly difficult find a pair of jeans that fit my frame just right.  Lo and behold, I do wear them on occasion.  Aside from the typical casual affair that goes hand-in-hand with wearing denim jeans, part of restyling pieces includes changing their average role completely.  Therefore, dressing up jeans seems appropriate at all times.  Rather than throwing a baggy t-shirt and tennis shoes on, which sounds dreamy, perhaps wearing a flared tube top and skyscraper heels may be applied.

The flared top adds a feminine aspect without making the hips look gargantuan, while the skyscraper heels prevent me from looking like an oompa loompa.   What's your preference for styling denim - casual or dressed up?

I've never been much of a denim jean-wearing lady, as it's pretty rare to find the right fitting pair of pants that cover the width of my hips while maintaining a balance at the waist.  In lieu of of continuing on this never-ending retail mission, I've finally found the pants of my dreams.  Designed with comfort for travel, Anatomie's Skyler Skinny Pant legitimately fits like a glove without feeling as though the pants are going to suck the life out of you.  They are made of an ultra light-weight nylon-lycra micro fiber fabric, which is incredible to walk and move around in.  Admittedly, the first time I opened up the package to find the pants I was a little nervous that they were going to be too small.  The exact opposite occurred, and they actually fit to each body type.

Who knew that there was a magical pair of pants made just for me?

My personal style has found itself in crop tops, skirts, and an array of high heels to attempt to make me appear taller than my 5'5" frame towers in the air.  We all know I'm not much of a pants person, but these may have just changed my mind.  Give me a little more time and you may find me in Birkenstocks and overalls.

Since my lifetime of residing in Miami, it is around this time of the year that I consequently wear crop tops day and night.  As personal protocol, I have not left my condo without throwing on one of these shoulder-baring, abdominal highlighting pieces.  Although the standard theory for a "little black dress" is every breathing woman's go-to outfit selection past 8 P.M., I've exercised a permutation that is sexy enough to stop a little traffic but wearable during the day.

The symmetry and proportions of this particular crop top pair quite well with a draped skater skirt (which I have been perpetually wearing on a regular basis).  The ab-baring piece is also quite flattering for my fellow smaller-chested friends, as it accentuates the shape with a deep slit.  Oh, and Beyonce wore this same top.  Winning.
