My Story of Perseverance

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to view a pre-screening of the all new GREATER movie. This particular movie touched me because it focuses on not only continuing to pursue your goals, but with perseverance, dedication, and faith. As many of you already know, I gave birth to my son about 5 years ago. At that moment in my life, I was just releasing all of the negative energy and surroundings around me. Needless to say, I knew that I needed to make some changes in my life but wasn't sure where to start. Once I had my son, it was like a light switch clicked and my entire being shifted. I've always been creative and artistic, so it was at that moment when I decided to start a business and transform my body. Losing all of the baby weight I gained was one of the hardest yet rewarding projects of my life.

I dedicated my time to building a healthier "me" through extreme workouts, staying consistent, sticking to a strict diet plan, and staying focused on the goal. Over the course of two months, I managed to lose 55 pounds and completely transformed my mind and body. It's incredible what dedication and consistency can do for you. Therefore, the GREATER movie truly hit close to home for me because I could relate to the Brandon Burlsworth story as well.

Brandon Burlsworth was the greatest walk-on in the history of football, and his story showed that sometimes there is a larger plan for our lives that we have no control over. Despite being bullied, looked over, and torn down, he focused on his dream and made it come to fruition by being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts.

GREATER is released to theaters on August 26th so check to see if it's available near you. I highly recommend this, as it's truly an inspirational movie that anybody will enjoy.

New Year, New You: How to Get Motivated

It's been a little while since I posted an episode of my "Fab to Fit" series, but I discovered this hidden little gem as I was going through my video archives.  What better time to showcase "How to get Motivated" than right after the New Year?  Sometimes we find ourselves getting "stuck" or distracted by other activities that we have going on in our lives that we forget to focus on what's important.  Therefore, today's post is all about getting motivated and entering the New Year with a plan!

My Steps to Getting Motivated:

1)  Make a Plan

2)  Set Goals or a Time Frame

3)  Go into it with an Open Mind

4)  Stay on Schedule - No Distractions!

5)  Create a Mood Board

6)  Build a Team or Partnership

7)  Reward Yourself

What do you like to do to get yourself motivated?

New Year, New You: How to Organize + Set Goals

The time has come when we all sit back and think about what we can do, now that we have entered the New Year, to better ourselves with a fresh start to the year.  A few of my favorite things to do are to:  1) Do a juice cleanse, 2) Clean out closets or drawers, 3) Donate clothes that I don't need or wear, 4) Set goals, and 5) Clean the entire home.  There's something refreshing about getting rid of clutter and things that are simply taking up space in the home.  It's also a great feeling to give back to the less fortunate, which sets the year off to a motivational start.

What are some things that you do to begin the new year?

Friday Favorites: Motivation

Anyone who knows me (or follows my blog) should know that I am all for positivity and inspiring others.  More specifically, I love to motivate and inspire women to understand their beauty and capabilities as well.

One of my favorite things to do is read from an uplifting book before I go to bed or as soon as I wake up in the morning.  I'm one of those people who highlights quotes that I like and then I go back and read them over and over again as the days go on.  It's something that motivates me and keeps my focus.

See below for some of my favorite quotes, currently:
