Off the Grid

And just like that, I'm shooting photos in a 30-degree parking lot.  Whenever I travel up north to see my family, I tend to be the overdressed Asian wherever I go.  Despite my apparent love for oversized marshmallow snowsuits and moon boots, I appreciate structured pieces as well.  Hence, the windowpane suit by Express.  A statement suit is great to have in the closet to wear as one piece, or break it up for varying looks.

Saving Grace

Let's face it, women are exquisite creatures.  By exquisite, of course I mean never having anything to wear amongst a closet full of clothes, eating dark chocolate and greasy pizzas while crying over dramatized life events, and complaining about their bloating season every month.  Therefore, I am here to highlight how ladies can simply solve the ongoing battle of what to wear and how to wear it without getting millions of befuddled glares as to why you're wearing such an elusive outfit.

Despite today's pop culture and Instagram fashion, one can actually go through life wearing what reflects one's style and personality without replicating what every celebrity in the universe has on during the Teen Choice Awards or otherwise equivalent red carpet event.  Whether or not you're fascinated by the fashion world, or believe that you have a sense of personal style, what you throw on that day defines your creativity (without the judgment from any onlookers or ogling men).

In lieu of sticking to the "safe" approach to what you wear every morning, try stepping outside of the comfort zone and expressing a little personal style by switching things up.  Don't get me wrong, if you feel comfortable wearing basic tees, sweatpants and no bra every day, then by all means go ahead.  But don't dress for the rest of the world simply for the sake of what people may perceive you to be.  If you're comfortable in your own skin, go on with a confident approach to what you wear as well.  After all, it won't kill you to try something new.

Stripes and Snakeskin.

If you're anything like me, then you have undoubtedly tried to magically conclude a solution for a comfortable look that doesn't involve "mom" jeans and a scrunchy.  Cue the flashing lights because I discovered the glamorized sneaker of my dreams - and it's coated in a snakeskin print with regimented studs.  Interestingly, I was perusing the epic Macy's in Herald Square when I spotted these beauties upon walking about 15 miles in barely-there sandals.  The snakeskin printed sneakers gloriously gave me that "come hither" look and it was a bittersweet ending.

Stripes are also all-the-rage right now, but usually rocking stripes can go one of two ways.  They can either be the most flattering or obviously ridiculous pattern to wear - the trick is to opt for pieces with vertical prints that fit loosely and leave a little breathing room.  Obviously, wearing a skin-tight striped dress will highlight every possibly protruding part on the body.  Now that I've speculated the stripes syndrome, when taking a closer look you can see that this flowing top is indeed laced with vertical stripes.  Paired with scalloped shorts and bold accessories keeps the look effortless yet chic.  Live on, chic moms throughout the world, live on.

The Best of NYC with Marriott Hotels

Although it's been quite apparent through my Instagram feed, the past week has been spent doing a little  exploring through the beloved New York City with Marriott Hotels.  There's something alluring about every trip to the Big Apple, whether it's the endless new discoveries or diverse connections made with individuals.  Let's just say it has me hooked and I continuously enjoy every jaunt back to the city.  This time around, I teamed up with Marriott Hotels (specifically the Courtyard New York Manhattan / Herald Square and SpringHillSuites New York Midtown Manhattan/Fifth Avenue) to explore their "Best of NYC" package.

Upon checking into the Courtyard New York Manhattan / Herald Square hotel, I received a warm welcome with an Explorer Pass which gave exclusive access to New York's top attractions.  The 16-story hotel sat directly across from Macy's in the heart of Herald Square so of course a little retail therapy occurred somewhere in the trip.  I'm also quite a sucker for an outdoor rooftop lounge with a city view, so Monarch's Scandavian-styled spot was a must-hit with gorgeous views of the Empire State Building and more.  Of course, each time I visit the city I head to Times Square and reboot on either a Starbucks coffee or grab a green juice from a street vendor.  The second day, I swiped my Explorer Pass at Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center, a bike rental in Central Park, and MOMA (an authentic Picasso lured me in).

Subsequently, the next portion of the trip was spent alongside SpringHill Suites New York Manhattan / Fifth Avenue complete with a business area within the larger than life room so it gave me a chance to get caught up on some blogging before heading out to explore further.  Located in the heart of the Fashion District, the area is developing as the next wave of residential living with a sea of large buildings and stores.

Ever since the last trek to the city, the little gem Blossom Du Jour became an essential part of my life.  A vegan cronut actually exists, and they somehow mastered the pleasurable delight.  ASOS also invited me to check out their Holiday collections, so stopping by their office cured my fashion craving coinciding with Soho's boundless shopping haven.  Another gem, Tokio 7, was a new-found companion of mine featuring consigned high-end designer pieces like Roberto Cavalli belts, 3.1 Phillip Lim skirts, Lanvin dresses, and so much more.  After hearing so many good things about it, it was a must-see.

In lieu of simply reading about my trip, the Marriott is offering the chance for you to win a trip to experience the "Best of NYC" too!  Enter the #WIN3NYC Summer Sweeps for a chance to win the Best of NYC hotel package and a trip to the Big Apple.  The Best of NYC package at Courtyard New York Manhattan / Herald Square includes tickets to your choice of three attractions.  Breakfast, Internet and New York City attraction passes are all included in SpringHill Suites New York Midtown Manhattan /Fifth Avenue's Best of NYC package.

Beauty Bit: Frequent Flyer Skincare

skincare, skincare tips, health and beauty tips, beauty tips, skin routine, skincare routine, travel skincare tips, how to take care of skin, gavee gold skincare, gavee gold, gavee gold collection, style by lynsee, fashion blogger, popsugar, teen vogue, lucky magazine

Up next on the agenda is yet another trip to New York City, so packing up the essential beauties are a must.  Typically, I rotate skincare products every three months unless I find one that I simply can't live without.  My current routine incorporates Gavee Gold's Gold Citrus Cleanse to clear out the pores and get rid of the nasty airplane surprises that creep in through my face (yes I know this sounds delicious).  While airborne, spraying a sequence of the Gold Citrus Mist hydrates my face and offers a refreshing feeling throughout the entire flight.  Liquid Gold Peptides followed by the Heart of Gold Elixir keep me from looking like I'm dying after 3 hours of sleep and walking 15 miles around the Big Apple, with their brightening and tightening agents.  As a side note, the Heart of Gold Elixir legitimately has authentic gold flakes in it.  Finally, a hefty coating of the Royal Day/Night Cream seals everything in and moisturizes the face for the entire day or night.

Once I finish my travels, I religiously apply the Diamond Cell Salt Polish to remove any dead skin cells that accumulate over time.  The first time I tried this, a layer of dead skin peeled off my face in a refreshing way.  Don't worry, your face won't fall off.  It will actually reveal a more beautiful "you."

Style by Lynsee Looks of 2013

New Year's is literally right around the corner and something that I enjoy doing is going back into the blog archives to view my style evolution.  Needless to say, it has transformed over time and 2013 has been quite the journey for me.  Nonetheless, it has been another incredible year that I can do nothing but be grateful for each experience that I've encountered and expect only the best to come in the upcoming year.  With each new year comes many more memorable moments.  Be appreciative for what you have, be grateful for each person who has entered (or left) your life, and be patient for what is in store.  Thank you for coming along this journey with me and love you all!  XOXO.

Easter Sunday + Spring has Sprung

Although Easter was last Sunday, I wanted to show you the look that I rocked for that day.  It was the perfect springtime look to wear to brunch, with a mint ombre top (courtesy of 2B by Bebe) that I paired along with some gray skinny jeans and a nude heel.  What I love so much about this top is that is drapes down in the back and remains feminine with the flowing chiffon material yet adds a bit of edge with the studs laced around the collar.

Mint, lavender and coral are my favorite spring tones.  What are some of your favorite colors for the season?

OOTD: Sapphire Waves.

What could possibly be better than 85 degree weather in December?  Although I would love to wear layers and boots for the winter season, I can't really complain about being able to rock my shorts and sleeveless tops still.  If you live in gorgeous weather then you may also be looking for other ways to sport fall/winter fashion as well.  In Miami, girls tend to throw on scarves and boots (as if we have cold weather) so I paired some simple black booties with today's look of the day.  Adding booties to an outfit can make it more fall/winter appropriate.

I'm looking forward to spending some time up north for the holidays so I'm just doing some last-minute shopping and getting everything together before I head up there.  It's the one time of year where I pull out my coats and tall boots!  What are you doing for the holidays this year?

What I'm wearing:
BCBG top
Kate Spade bracelet
F21 shorts
Steve Madden booties
