How to be a Stylish Mom: 5 Tips to Chic

It has always been assumed that at some point in my life I would birth a child, but I never expected the journey to be as rewarding as it has been.  Of course, once you take on the role of being Super-mom, it's inevitable that it's not exactly going to be the easiest job, but it's all worth it.  However, becoming a mom doesn't mean that your sense of style goes out the window.  Let's face it, you can still be hot and a mom.  There's no rules to this.

My five tips for how to be a stylish mom are:

1) Opt for a chic oversized bag rather than a diaper bag
2) Wear clothing that flatters your body type, rather than elastic waisted mom jeans and sweatshirts
3) A little black dress can go a long way
4) Add bold statement jewelry to a basic white tee and skinny jeans for a polished look
5) If you are wearing minimal makeup, try a bold lip for a pop of color

Although bouncing around in workout clothes all day is fun and all, I enjoy the aspect of putting together a polished look to make grocery store runs (because who doesn't shop at Whole Foods in embellished heels?).  Don't get me wrong, I definitely have my off-duty mom days, but it's not an everyday cycle.  And being a Miami-based fashion blogger / mama, crop tops are still part of my sartorial elegance, whether anybody likes them or not.  In 90-degree weather, I enjoy breathing.

My three-year-old son, Taejin, also lives in sleeveless shirts and denim shorts regularly.  He also has a  continuous addiction to hats, lots of hats, and Ray Bans.

Black Mesh + Sexy Maxi Skirt

Now that 100-degree season has hit Miami, I've gone back to my usual Summer fashion routine of not wearing a bra.  In lieu of rocking an over-the-shoulder boulder holder, it's become apparent that mesh bodysuits and high-slit maxi skirts are much more comfortable and breathable.  This is a look that can also transition from a day to night look by adding a little jewelry and a leather jacket for a chic rebel look.  Additionally, black is the notorious must-have color for an effortlessly chic look for the ultimate fashion sheath.  Sultry sheer pieces and all-black ensembles took over the Spring Summer 2015 runway as well.

Spring Eye Makeup Tutorial + Mini Makeover Event

As part of my morning routine, I have to keep my essential coffee on hand, my cell phone for good tunes, and the most amazing mirror of my life.  After trying out the simplehuman Sensor Mirror, it became apparent that I've been utilizing the worst mirrors ever purchased prior.  It reveals every nook and cranny on your entire face, which is undoubtedly thrilling and scary at the same time.  However, it allows you to achieve a truly seamless look with cosmetics that I've never obtained before.  Basically, I've been walking around with the Britney Spears circa 2007 look before trying this out.

Gorgeous bronze eye makeup paired with sun-kissed skin is all the rage for Spring 2015 beauty, as seen on the runways.  Lately, I've been rocking this look on a day-to-day basis because I love how effortlessly simply it is to pull together.

Step 1) Apply a primer to the entire eyelid for long lasting wear
Step 2) Using a blending brush, apply a light-toned eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eye
Step 3) Apply a dark-toned eyeshadow along the crease of the eyelid using a different brush
Step 4) Blend the eyelid with a new brush for a smoked out look
Step 5) Add a bright highlight underneath the brow line to make your eyes pop
Step 6) Create a dramatic cat eye with liquid eyeliner
Step 7) Using the same eyeshadow as the crease, apply a small amount under the lower lash line
Step 8) Finish the look off with a coat of voluminous mascara on top and bottom lashes

I also have a special announcement, for those of you in the Miami area who would like to get a little pampering done.  I'm teaming up with The Container Store for their Magnify Your Mother's Day Event, where you can come receive complimentary lash applications and mini makeovers!  Check out all of the deets below.

7 Tips for Transforming a Room

"Without a doubt, Spring season pulls out the desire to transform my place into what appears to be a newly remodeled abode.  To achieve a refreshing revamp on your place, add a few of these touches."

1) Whether it's a faux floral arrangement or authentic, adding this to an end table can lighten up the room.  Adding a throw over the end of a couch makes the room feel a little cozier and "home-like."
2) A large area rug, such as this metallic cow hide by nuLOOM, completely transforms a drab room into a chic set-up.

3) Throw pillows with bold prints (I'm in love with the Greek print right now) and neutral colors glam up a rather boring couch and pull the room together.

4) If you live in an apartment or condo (or just don't have a lot of space), add some personality by buying some bookshelves or cube storage pieces where you can place items that represent who you are.

5) I transformed wine bottles into a DIY decor piece by simply painting them black and gold.

6) Revitalize a dining room table with a serving tray filled with candles and a floral arrangement.  There's always something refreshing about having fresh flowers in the home at all times.

7) White bedding gives a fresh, clean look to a bedroom.  Paired with brightly colored petal pillows and a faux fur throw, it feels comfortable yet chic.

Spring Summer 2015 Essentials: Army Green

If rocking the animal print trend is a little too predatory for you, then perhaps a glamour meets Safari is more fitting. As highlighted on the runways of Spring Summer 2015 shows, khaki or military looks are back as noted fashion essentials for the season. From Ralph Lauren's safari styles to the sensuous military pieces by Marc Jacobs, it's a timeless classic. Get inspired and wear the shade as a complete look, an accessory, or one piece.

50 Shades of Camel

Camel is one of those colors that timelessly transforms any look into a chic ensemble.  Not only does it seem to go with everything, it brings a luxe look and feel to any piece of clothing adorned.  In motion, a quick glance at a store window or nearby mirror may give you the inclination that you're naked...but it's all good.  Over the weekends, camel (or any other neutral shade) is my go-to for a loose and laid-back look.  To polish off the look, pair it with gold hardware and a leopard print belt.

Denim Shirt and Cut Out Ripped Jeans

"Much like my new-found addiction to Empire and Skinny Cow Snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches, my obsession with monstrous holes cut out of my skinny jeans is evident."

It's no secret that I love a good ol' denim shirt, like this one by Mavi.  What's better than that?  Not wearing a bra.  Over the course of my brassiere-wearing life, it was assumed that it was a necessary item that I absolutely must wear every single day.  Little did I know that those who are less inclined in the chest region don't really need to wear a boulder holder to operate.  This news is amaze balls to me.  While it's evident that I love wandering around bra-less throughout the streets of Miami (it's not as bad as it sounds), there's something I love even more...ripped denim jeans.

Much like my new-found addiction to Empire and Skinny Cow Snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches, my obsession with monstrous holes cut out of my skinny jeans is evident.  Despite multiple people inquiring about whether or not I purchased them that way or not, I rock them with no shame.  You better werk.  I'm also quite the sucker for a completely monochromatic look (see exhibit A-F from all previous blog posts).

DIY: Cellulite and Stretch Mark Removal Scrub

"It was pretty much predestined to happen at some point, but I managed to find an at-home solution for removing cellulite or stretch marks."

It was highly requested on my video channel that I create a tutorial for ridding cellulite and/or stretch marks, and after having my son, it was necessary.  It was pretty much predestined to happen at some point, but I managed to find an at-home solution for removing cellulite or stretch marks.  My primary purpose for this scrub was to remove stretch marks that accumulated from pregnancy, and it has helped tremendously.  If you have those infamous dimples around your booty or thighs, believe me, it happens to everybody.

The most important ingredient in this beauty scrub is caffeine, which helps tighten the skin by providing antioxidants when applied directly.  Obviously, it won't magically make your skin baby-soft within the first few minutes of using it.  However, it works immensely over time.

What you'll need:

-  A jar or waterproof container

-  1 cup of coffee grounds

-  3 Tablespoons of sugar (or salt)

-  6 Tablespoons of coconut oil

Step 1 //  Measure out all of your ingredients

Step 2 //  Combine all ingredients in an empty jar, and mix together until everything is mixed together

Step 3 // Apply as much as needed to appropriate areas of the body that have cellulite or stretch marks, for about five minutes in the shower.  Rinse with water.  Use once or twice per week and store in the shower (with a lid).
