Boys Bomber Jacket + Denim Shirt

As my five-year-old son has grown into a 33-year-old man over the course of his wondrous life, I can't help but notice that he's developed his own personal style of boys fashion. It used to be simple. I would pick out his outfits and shoes for the day, throw them on, and he would be pleased. Now, he must approve everything and if it's not cohesive with his style then we have to start over. Therefore, I've learned to allow him to pick out his own pieces by giving him choices. Hence, this look that we've created here. Teamwork makes the dream work.

How to be a Stylish Mom: 5 Tips to Chic

It has always been assumed that at some point in my life I would birth a child, but I never expected the journey to be as rewarding as it has been.  Of course, once you take on the role of being Super-mom, it's inevitable that it's not exactly going to be the easiest job, but it's all worth it.  However, becoming a mom doesn't mean that your sense of style goes out the window.  Let's face it, you can still be hot and a mom.  There's no rules to this.

My five tips for how to be a stylish mom are:

1) Opt for a chic oversized bag rather than a diaper bag
2) Wear clothing that flatters your body type, rather than elastic waisted mom jeans and sweatshirts
3) A little black dress can go a long way
4) Add bold statement jewelry to a basic white tee and skinny jeans for a polished look
5) If you are wearing minimal makeup, try a bold lip for a pop of color

Although bouncing around in workout clothes all day is fun and all, I enjoy the aspect of putting together a polished look to make grocery store runs (because who doesn't shop at Whole Foods in embellished heels?).  Don't get me wrong, I definitely have my off-duty mom days, but it's not an everyday cycle.  And being a Miami-based fashion blogger / mama, crop tops are still part of my sartorial elegance, whether anybody likes them or not.  In 90-degree weather, I enjoy breathing.

My three-year-old son, Taejin, also lives in sleeveless shirts and denim shorts regularly.  He also has a  continuous addiction to hats, lots of hats, and Ray Bans.

Punk Inspiration in the Tundra.

Although I love the warm climate of Miami, I recently flew up north for the holidays to spend time with my family and get a taste of the cold weather.  When I say cold, I don't mean a slight breeze.  As I pried open my eyes this morning and gazed out into the snow covered grass, I couldn't help but cringe at the sight of it.  There's something about the bitter feeling of being slapped in the face with cold when I step outside that doesn't make me scream for joy.  On the other hand, it gives me the opportunity to layer wardrobe pieces and rock my winter boots or jackets.

I typically live in strappy sandal heels and skirts, but I've really been loving the fact that I can wear my winter pieces while I'm traveling for the holidays.  Aside from fashion, the snow on the ground makes it feel much more like the holidays are approaching.  Christmas lights on palm trees just don't express the holidays quite as well.

Lately, my go-to denim has been DL 1961's Emma in Athens jeans which are the perfect fit and provide the most slimming silhouette.  The jeans have more of a legging-jean fit with faux front pockets, which I love because they make legs look slimmer without bulky pockets.

I've also been loving the punk-inspired trend, which I've incorporated in this look by simply wrapping a plaid shirt around my waist along with a graphic top and leather jacket.  It's such a quick and easy way of pulling a look together that is chic yet comfortable.
