Bird's Eye View

Aside from about a billion reasons why I love New York City, there's much to be said about Summers in the city as well.  Shifting from the sweltering Miami heat to much more breathable air along with rooftop views of beautiful highrise architecture, sunlight peaking through the tallest buildings, and endless people hurriedly wandering the streets of NYC, truly feels like you're in the center of the world (if even for a moment).  On the opposite side of the spectrum, basking in the rooftop glory in the city is quite a change of speed in comparison to New York Fashion Week's bloody cold weather.

During my NYC experience with Marriott Hotels, I discovered a gem atop the Courtyard Marriott New York Manhattan/Herald Square.  The Scandinavian-chic décor of Monarch is one of the intricate details of the rooftop lounge, encompassing an indoor lounge with a seductive allure, Vintage bricks, glass doors, teak and grey custom Terrazzo tiles, and accents of true Manhattan elegance.  Let's just say with 5,000 square feet on the 18th floor and a photographic view of iconic Empire State Building, all possible thoughts of doubt or stress go completely out the window (if there were any).

Stripes and Snakeskin.

If you're anything like me, then you have undoubtedly tried to magically conclude a solution for a comfortable look that doesn't involve "mom" jeans and a scrunchy.  Cue the flashing lights because I discovered the glamorized sneaker of my dreams - and it's coated in a snakeskin print with regimented studs.  Interestingly, I was perusing the epic Macy's in Herald Square when I spotted these beauties upon walking about 15 miles in barely-there sandals.  The snakeskin printed sneakers gloriously gave me that "come hither" look and it was a bittersweet ending.

Stripes are also all-the-rage right now, but usually rocking stripes can go one of two ways.  They can either be the most flattering or obviously ridiculous pattern to wear - the trick is to opt for pieces with vertical prints that fit loosely and leave a little breathing room.  Obviously, wearing a skin-tight striped dress will highlight every possibly protruding part on the body.  Now that I've speculated the stripes syndrome, when taking a closer look you can see that this flowing top is indeed laced with vertical stripes.  Paired with scalloped shorts and bold accessories keeps the look effortless yet chic.  Live on, chic moms throughout the world, live on.

Miami Swim Week Kicks Off with Peroni and Roxy

In spite of the copious rain downpours, Miami fashion-goers made their way out to kick off Mercedes-Benz Swim Week 2013.  Peroni invited select guests for the 2nd annual "Sneak Peek Swim Kick Off" at the Soho Beach House penthouse, complete with Peroni beverages and a live DJ on the 1's and 2's.  Italia Independent gifted myself and the other top Miami fashion bloggers with custom Miami Swim Week 2013 sunglasses, which are fabulous with blue velvet frames and mirrored lenses.

The Roxy Pop Surf event at The Raleigh and Ocean Drive magazine party at the Surfcomber were moved indoors.  Roxy showcased a fashion presentation filled with bright and vibrant colors, Hawaiian prints, and bold patterns.  One aspect of Miami that I've noticed in my time here is that rain or poor weather doesn't keep anybody inside.
