Fab to Fit Series - Episode 2: Sweat USA Recap + Photos

For those of who aren't too familiar with the Beachbody brand or Shaun T, let's just say that the workouts will have one sweating in places he/she didn't know sweat could appear and crying by the end of the session.  Needless to say, I was invited to check out Sweat USA powered by Reebook as part of my "Fab to Fit Series" when the nation's first all-star fitness festival arrived in Miami.  With over 3,000 fitness enthusiasts in attendance and over 100 exhibitors showcasing their innovative products/services, it was one of the most inspirational and motivating events that I've attended.

The three-day event encompassed workout sessions with Sweat USA's celebrity fitness trainers such as Jillian Michaels, Tony Horton (P90X) and Shaun T (Insanity), among many others, to what Sweat USA has named the fitness capital of the world in South Beach.  The classes available were Flywheel Cycling, MMA, Crossfit, Piloxing, Surfset, P90X, Insanity, and an array of others to try out.

Also among the thousands of attendees at Sweat USA in Miami Beach was Daymond John, from Shark Tank, and supermodel, Karolina Kurkova.

OOTD: Valentine's Day Look & National Commercial Feature!

Happy Tuesday everyone!  If you read my Healthy Habits: How I Lost 55 Pounds in Two Months post, then you know that I lost my baby weight by doing the Insanity workout program.  My results were great so the creators of the program (Shaun T and Beachbody) flew me to New York to film the newest Insanity commercial.  For my recap of that trip, check out NYC Trip and Insanity Commercial Part I and NYC Trip and Insanity Commercial Part II.  After much anticipation, the commercial aired nationally over this past weekend and I'm so excited to share it with all of you.  The excitement is not strictly because I was featured in the commercial, but the hard work that paid off with my weight loss story.

I also want to share today's OOTD, which is a perfect look for Valentine's Day.  Pairing neutral colors with neon pink and sequins creates a fun yet classy look that remains romantic for this type of occasion.

New Video! My Weight Loss Story: How I Lost 55 Lbs in Two Months

For those of you who don't know, I lost 55 lbs once I had my baby about a year ago and I wanted to share my story with you because I've gotten a lot of requests from people regarding my weight loss regimen and tips on losing weight.  Therefore, I'm sharing my story with you  :)

Although the video is lengthy, it includes my entire story so I didn't really sum it up nor leave out any specific details.  Let me know if you'd like to see more weight loss videos, etc.

NYC Trip and Insanity Commercial Part II

In case you missed my first blog post about my trip to New York City to film the new Insanity commercial, you can view it here.  It was my first trip to the big apple and I took so many photos, after traveling to so many different areas of the city.  Even though I was able to visit various areas of the city, I still feel as though I didn't get to discover all that I wanted to and I can't wait to go back!  It's still up in the air when the commercial air-date will be since we are awaiting the editing from their producers, but I will keep you all updated of course.  For now I'd like to share some more of my photos from the amazing trip.

I stumbled upon Koreatown in one of my outings where I somehow got lost and ended up in what felt like my homeland.

You have no idea how excited I be lost in Koreatown.

I'm probably the only person who was this excited to see a Korean food cart in New York City that I had to snap a photo of it.  There are absolutely no Korean restaurants within my living vicinity in Miami, so one can only imagine my level of excitement.

Healthy Habits: My Top Five Tips for Losing Weight

#1: Lose the Sugar!
Many people don't realize the amount of extra calories you consume by drinking soda, juices, or other drinks that are full of sugar.  Rather than drinking beverages high in sugar, opt for water.  It's much better for your body and your skin!  There is also plenty of sugar in alcoholic drinks, so if you are looking to lose weight I suggest leaving the alcohol alone for awhile.  If you have one drink per week, then mix it with club soda or have one glass of red wine.

#2: Portion your Plate 
If you eat five small meals throughout the day rather than three large meals, it will help you with portion control.  Your plate should be no higher than an inch of food in height and should consist of primarily proteins and vegetables.

#3: Switch to Whole Grains
Limit your grains or carbohydrates to a minimum, but choose whole grains if you must.  Whole grains refers to brown rice, whole-wheat bread, whole-wheat pita bread, or anything that says "whole-wheat" is pretty much safer for you to consume.

#4: Egg Whites are your New BFF
There are added calories in whole eggs so switch to consuming egg whites, which are lighter and better for you.  They are the perfect breakfast with a side of turkey bacon and spinach or hard-boiled eggs are a great snack (minus the yolk).

#5: Snacks Don't Have to be Bad
If you must have a snack throughout the day, grab a handful of raw almonds (no salt added) or dried cranberries.  I also like apples with a little almond butter.

NYC Trip and Insanity Commercial Part I

If you follow me on Twitter or my Facebook page, then you may have seen a post about my recent participation in the upcoming Insanity workout program commercial.  As many of you know, I lost over 55 pounds in two months using the Insanity workout program and I sent my results in to Beachbody (the creators of the workout program).  Since they loved my results, I went through a selection process and was chosen to be part of the new commercial.  Therefore, the company flew me to New York City where we filmed it.  It was my first trip to the big city and it was nothing short of amazing.  From the fashion to the food, there was so much for me to take in and I loved every bit of it.

As soon as I landed, they had a private car and chauffeur pick me up at the airport and take me to the King & Grove Hotel which was right off Madison Avenue.  After a quick outfit change, I was already exploring the city.  I took plenty of photos from the city as well as the shoot.  The shoot was so much fun!  We did photo shoots, an interview for the commercial, and footage of a group of about 12 of us working out with Shaun T himself.  Check out my first round of photos!  I have more to come in future posts!

Healthy Habits: Insanity Asylum Review

As I mentioned in a previous post, I lost my baby weight and then some (over 50 pounds) in two months by doing various lifestyle changes.  However, I was able to shed the bulk of my weight by incorporating the Insanity workout program into my daily routine.  After my fourth or fifth cycle of the program, I decided that I needed something a little more challenging.  Therefore, I purchased the next phase...Insanity Asylum.  It's nothing short of completely insane to say the least, but it's worth it.  It's geared toward athletes and those who are already in pretty good shape but want to enhance their performance.  I love it because it incorporates the same movements as Insanity, but is more controlled.

Along with the DVD's, you receive a jump rope and agility ladder for control and speed.  I recommend this product for those who need a bit of a challenge, looking to define body tone or seem to be bored with trips to the gym.  It works best for me since I have a pretty busy schedule and it helps me slip in time to workout by doing it at home.
