7 Tips for Transforming a Room

"Without a doubt, Spring season pulls out the desire to transform my place into what appears to be a newly remodeled abode.  To achieve a refreshing revamp on your place, add a few of these touches."

1) Whether it's a faux floral arrangement or authentic, adding this to an end table can lighten up the room.  Adding a throw over the end of a couch makes the room feel a little cozier and "home-like."
2) A large area rug, such as this metallic cow hide by nuLOOM, completely transforms a drab room into a chic set-up.

3) Throw pillows with bold prints (I'm in love with the Greek print right now) and neutral colors glam up a rather boring couch and pull the room together.

4) If you live in an apartment or condo (or just don't have a lot of space), add some personality by buying some bookshelves or cube storage pieces where you can place items that represent who you are.

5) I transformed wine bottles into a DIY decor piece by simply painting them black and gold.

6) Revitalize a dining room table with a serving tray filled with candles and a floral arrangement.  There's always something refreshing about having fresh flowers in the home at all times.

7) White bedding gives a fresh, clean look to a bedroom.  Paired with brightly colored petal pillows and a faux fur throw, it feels comfortable yet chic.

The fact that I am able to escape life for a few hours by sleeping on a luxurious mattress helps elevate the experience even more.  For today's post, I'm teaming up with Beautyrest to introduce the ultimate fusion of luxury and performance, offering a sleeping experience that allows you to live life fully recharged. There are no words to describe the amount of pure bliss that I felt when I first slept on the Beautyrest Black®, which feels like a retreat from my daily stresses.  For those who know me, it's pretty apparent that I have had horrible back pains for some time now (I partially blame this on my ability to stay hunched over my laptop throughout the entire day). Designed with the latest technology, the Beautyrest Black® merges luxury and technology with for a techno-luxe experience.

Well, my cyber friends, this mattress transformed my life.  To put it in simple terms, it feels like you're sleeping on top of a million feathers laced with fluffy pillows while being carried by 20 Greek Gods.  The Beautyrest Black® is where luxury meets technology, designed with Micro Diamond Infused AirCool Memory Foam.  Yes, the mattress contains up to 1,000 carats of diamond particles in a queen size bed.  How can sleep get any more luxurious than sleeping on diamonds? Consequently, sleeping on the Beautyrest Black® transformed my rigid sleep patterns into an experience of luxurious sleep for all the senses.

How I Organize my Clothing and Accessories

As I've mentioned before, I am very detail-oriented and organized so I am always coming up with new ways to organize items in my condo (or life in general)!  My next project is my closet, but that's a completely different story which just might take me a decade to finish.  I've devised some space-saving and creative ways to organize my various accessories, clothes and other items.  What are some of your organizational tips?  I would love to know!

Previously, I kept my jewelry in a standing jewelry organizer but I like this method better because I can see my pieces right up front and it serves as inspiration when I'm piecing looks together.  I found a similar version here.

In the past, I've kept my shoes in their original boxes and stacked them in my closet but I was looking for a way that I could have them out on display so I can easily grab a pair by viewing my collection.  Unfortunately, I didn't purchase enough of these stacked cubby organizers so I'm running out of room already.  However, they are great for keeping my shoes out in the open and allow me to showcase the pairs that I wear most often.  Here is a similar version.

Here are some of my most worn pairs for the spring season (plenty of open toe or sandal platforms)

After a wondrous trip to IKEA, I scooped up these white boxes with metal finish to store some of my accessories.  I wanted to save some space in my closet so I bought these storage boxes for about $10 and they came in a pack of four.  As you can see, I've labeled them so I can easily find what I'm looking for.

This is an easy way for me to organize my shorts without having to hang them up in the closet, where they occupy too much space.

My clutch purses store perfectly in these boxes.

DIY: Transforming A Simple Bookcase

I'm so excited to share with you my most recent DIY project that I dove into over the weekend.  As I mentioned before, I am revamping the decor in my condo and I decided to give my boring black bookcase a makeover!  It's a great way to add a little personality to any room, and it's simple to create.  I really appreciate the look of white furniture with silver accents because of the chic and clean look of it.  Currently, my condo has plenty of black furniture so I wanted to transform to something that is a little bit lighter in tone.

What you will need:
1 old piece of furniture (or furniture that needs updating)
3 cans of Painter's Touch Ultra Coverage 2X Spray Paint (Satin/Blossom White)
1 shower curtain
Decal print of your choice (I purchased mine from Designed Beginnings Wall Decals)
1 can of acrylic white paint
1 can of acrylic dark gray paint
1 foam paint brush

Step 1) Remove the shelving units from your bookcase.

Step 2) Gather your spray paint cans (from any local hardware or craft store).

Step 3) Take your shower curtain and lay it out on the surface which you will be painting on, to prevent from getting paint on anything else.
Step 4) Place your bookcase on top of the laid out shower curtain.

Step 5) Coat the entire bookcase and shelves with white spray paint.  Let it dry for 3-4 hours.
Step 6) Mix together your white and dark gray acrylic paints.  This step is optional, as I couldn't find a light gray tone that I was looking for.  Therefore, I mixed two colors together to create the look that I was going for.  Coat the entire interior of your bookcase with this paint mixture.  Let it dry for another 3 hours.
Step 7) Carefully remove the printed decal from its sheeting and place it on the back panel of your bookcase.

Step 8) Here is my finished piece!  I love how it turned out, and now it's inspired me to refurnish some other items in my condo.  Enjoy =]

Snapshot: My Weekend

Miami had gorgeous weather over the weekend, so I spent plenty of time outdoors.  There's so much going on in the city with FUNKSHION Fashion Week, Miami International Fashion Week, and Winter Music Conference coming up.  For today's post, I thought I'd share some snapshots of my weekend.  You can think of it as if you experienced all of it with me, as my road dog.

Since it was so beautiful outside, I threw on this floral romper with a striped belt and some sandals.  I love the mixing of floral and stripes.

On Saturday night, I just wanted to relax so I decided to treat myself and my little man to a spa night.  I put together a DIY facial scrub (which I will release the recipe for in a later post this week) and put some cucumbers on my eyes.  We both threw our robes on and relaxed!  It was so cute seeing him in his little robe with cucumbers on his eyes.  Surprisingly, he sat still long enough for me to snap a photo.

On Sunday, I was browsing through Anthropologie and stumbled upon these inspirational beauties.  This store is filled with feminine items, perfect for fashion or home decor.

As I was flipping through a magazine, I fell upon this quote: "Take your pleasure seriously."  It made me stop and realize that sometimes you just have to relax, even when you are in the midst of chaos and busy with work, etc.
In continuation with my previous photo, I did just that...I took my pleasure of devouring these mini cupcakes with a glass of bubbly, very seriously.  It was heavenly to say the least =]
My recent dinner menu has consisted primarily of brown rice sushi or salmon nigiri.  I am a big fan of sushi!  It's so fresh and deliciously light.

Starbucks.  Ahhh Starbucks, how I love you so.  We have a strong relationship, as Starbucks keeps luring me in from day to day.  I either grab a cup of this Bold Joe or a Grande Iced Coffee with soy and 3 packets of Equal (yes, it's that precise).

I listen to Louise Hay's "101 Power Thoughts" almost every morning to get me in the mind set for the day.  Staying positive and motivated is what drives me to accomplish even more.

I'm not sure if many of you are on Pinterest (if you are, ADD ME >>) Follow Me on Pinterest , but I have had quite the obsession with perusing this site for home decor ideas.  As I said before, I am in the process of revamping my condo...so Pinterest has been quite the bundle of joy for me.

Last but not least, I am also quite fond of Mediterranean food.  More specifically, hummus and pita bread with a traditional pide.  Hummus is basically pureed chickpeas with lemon juice and a little olive oil.  It's a great alternative to your typical high-calorie dip.  The traditional pide is a healthier version of pizza, consisting of a light and crispy flatbread with a little cheese and tomatoes on top.  I love it!
What were some of your weekend activities?

Friday Favorites!

For this week's Friday Favorites, I have some of my favorite beauty, fashion, and home decor items.  What are some of your favorite items that you use often or highly recommend?  *I was not endorsed by these brands to promote the items listed below.

Since the weather has been a little chilly lately, I love throwing on a scarf and adding layers to my outfits.  Here are some of my favorite scarves at the moment.  Black scarf) Express, Gold scarf) Express, and Leopard scarf) ZARA.

I was searching for a contemporary lamp that had this look and feel to it, with the silver detailing and clear spheres throughout the base of the lamp.  Luckily, I snagged two of these lamps for my home and I love them!

These Sally Hansen salon effects nail strips are one of my go-to beauty finds.  Being a busy mom with a career and trying to juggle everything leaves me very little time to sit down and do my nails.  Therefore, I like to use these nail strips because they apply quickly and they actually do last for the full 10 days as its package details.

Miami Beach has an organic store called "FRESH" market, where I love to stop in and grab something from.  Last time, I picked up this delicious blueberry green tea.  Green tea is beneficial in the sense that it is low in calories, can help prevent tooth decay and reduces the risk of cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular disease, infection, and high cholesterol.

This cuticle remover by Essie works wonders.  Almost immediately after you roll the tip of the pen over your cuticles, it removes cuticles right away.  I purchased this at Walgreen's.
