Matrix Fitness

Although doing cardio is such a wondrous event filled with sweat-drenching excitement in the gym, believe it or not, it’s quite comforting to be able to do this at home. It takes away from that whole “sitting in your own sweat” during the drive home from working out. Therefore, I’ve teamed up with Matrix Fitness to introduce their newest residential luxury line of Matrix Fitness Treadmills and Elliptical machines. If you aren’t familiar with the brand, Matrix Fitness is the fastest growing commercial fitness equipment brand and their equipment is found in many elite gyms. 

One can assume my level of excitement (and my sweat glands were enthused) when I discovered they just launched their Home Fitness line of machines. These machines have all the best technology and accessories for an incredible at home gym experience. I know I’m not the only one who agrees that it’s much easier to stick to your fitness goals when you have proper entertainment (i.e. apps on apps on apps) to keep your mind occupied, which makes Matrix Fitness equipment so unique. Personally, I like to watch YouTube, listen to music, and have the capability to connect my phone to stay in sync at all times.

Woman in Motion

First of all, Happy New Year! It's 2016, and I am pleased to say that I can reflect on everything thus far and feel appreciative of everything in my life at this moment.

One primary goal of mine over the past five months has been to really focus on improving myself internally and physically. Over this time, I've received many questions regarding what I do for day-to-day exercise and I typically like to incorporate a workout every day of the week. Let's be honest, we don't always have time to squeeze in a workout after a long day and some of us don't want to wake up at 6AM just to make it happen. There are days where I miss a workout, but I jump back into it the next day. Everybody's human. 

 My workout routine usually consists boxing two days out of the week, Orange Theory Fitness (which is a circuit training class combining rowing, running, and weight training) two days out of the week, outdoor bootcamp (circuit training) on the weekends, and outdoor circuits focused on abs and the booty throughout the week. I've learned to love it. It's pretty addicting - once you start, you can't stop.

Superdry Sport Collection

Aside from lounging around in my birthday suit, one can often find me in workout clothes on a daily basis. Staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle has consistently been part of my regimen, so a girl's gotta' wear cute activewear to go with it. Allow me to introduce Superdry and their recently released Sport Collection that I am impressed with. As a contemporary brand with a British style focused on fuse vintage Americana and Japanese-inspired graphics, the collection comes with high quality pieces. Comfort is a large factor in workout clothing, and the quality of fabric. I love the Superdry Sport Collection for the durability of the pieces, with a little give and take. 

The Gym Running Leggings are made from a stretchy, moisture-wicking fabric that keeps me cool while active and a little zipped pocket in the back for hiding essentials that can obviously only be worn on my booty. It's perfect for bootcamp and running, when I don't want to carry a huge bag just to hold a few items. Of course, the Gym Sports Bra (as seen on Kylie Jenner) and Gym Running Zip Hoodie complement the leggings as well. Everything fits like a glove, and allows for plenty of movement without feeling constrained.

Fall Fitness Challenge with Polar

If you've been following my YouTube channel or any other possible social media outlet, then you may have noticed an increase in fitness-related posts. As winter approaches, we tend to gravitate toward comfort foods and occasionally fall off the fitness wagon. However, maintaining a healthy balance throughout my life is very important year-round. Staying fit and healthy has also become increasingly imperative for me, as a mother, in addition to instilling healthy habits in my 4-year-old son as well. Therefore, I've teamed up with Polar in what I like to call my "Fall Fitness Challenge" to tighten up my body and nutrition.

Recently, I featured the newly released Polar M400 watch in a post where I shared my daily fitness diary. Over the course of the past month, I've been incorporating high-intensity interval workouts (bootcamps) and yoga for 6-7 days per week in conjunction with a healthy diet. What I love about the M400 watch is that it ideally thinks for me, featuring calories burned and allows for syncing into MyFitnessPal. For example, I'll have protein oatmeal and spinach-egg white scramble in the morning, track it in MyFitnessPal, and it will sync my training activity within the app. I absolutely love this feature because it gives me accuracy in terms of calories burned and consumed.

My typical day of eating goes like this:

Steel-cut oatmeal with a scoop of protein

Spinach salad with fresh vegetables and solid albacore tuna

3 oz. wild salmon
Brown rice
Vegetable (green beans, broccoli, asparagus)

Quaker rice cakes
Vanilla roast almonds
Apples and peanut butter
Quest protein bars

By utilizing my new fitness/nutrition program, I have lost 8 pounds and 4-inches off my waistline, in one month! If you set goals for yourself, you can achieve them with determination and consistency.

A Day with the Polar M400

6:30 A.M.

I wake up (looking magically delicious of course) and check the Polar Flow mobile app to see how much I slept during the evening, and how restful my sleep was.  The Polar Flow mobile app allows one to view how much sleep was attained throughout the night, and how restful it was.  By tracking my sleeping patterns, it allows me to view whether or not they are affected by changes in my daily life and find the proper balance of rest, activity and training.

8:30 A.M.

The M400 displays a training diary which allows me to plug in my upcoming workouts for the next four weeks, and create specific sport profiles for each type (for example, boxing, circuit training, running, bootcamp, etc.)

9 A.M.

Morning runs are the most effective and favorable for my schedule, so I like to talk myself into going for a long run along the beach whenever possible.  The M400 details 24/7 activity tracking, and allows for setting a particular activity goal with detailed steps and distance, along with intensity levels.

2 P.M.

In the early afternoon, I'm typically sitting on my laptop and finishing up any pending work for the day.  One of my favorite aspects of the M400 watch is that it alerts me when I've been sitting or inactive for too long, as an admonition to stay active throughout the day.

7 P.M.

My days usually end with an outdoor bootcamp, and I love that the M400 has a sport profile where I can record interval guided workouts and how many calories burned each session.

Although birthday celebrations are filled with a significant amount of excitement, the entire month of June served as my little joy ride to paint the town red (and every other color in the rainbow). A month of madness in Miami and the Midwest was conquered and to rejuvenate my mind and body, I completed a 5-day juice cleanse in addition to revamping my entire workout routine. Sometimes, we don't realize that our bodies need to reset in order to gain power over the motivation that drives us to never give up on who we are. There are few things more grueling than the process of getting in shape, and somehow letting life happen (because occasionally we all need that plate of greasy french fries, extra cheesy pizza, or intensely rich slice of cheesecake), then having to lose the weight all over again.
