Fashion's Night Out Miami 2012 Recap

As most of you know, last night Fashion's Night Out took place all over the world as the largest shopping extravaganza.  In collaboration with FNO Miami and the Beacon Council, I celebrated the evening in the Design District where fashionistas gathered with luxury brands such as En Avance, Maison Martin Margiela, Marni, Scotch & Soda, and Sebastien James.  In addition to the extravagant fashion, live music by Afrobeta and DJ Mike Sike sounded through the streets as guests sipped on cocktails courtesy of the Miami Design District.

My first stop was at The District Factory where an outdoor Instagram wall featured select key fashion players in Miami.  Many of my photos were selected as the face of Miami fashion, so I was excited about that!  The District Factory had some fabulous designer pieces and deals, including Olivia + Joy handbags.  As part of the complete FNO experience, guests could receive a mini-makeover complete with makeup application, manicures, hair styling, and accessory picks prior to snapping photos in the photo booth provided by Fashion Koncept.

My final stop was at the VIP private rooftop party hosted by Grey Goose and Soho House Group, which was held at the top of the Moore building with a live DJ and manicures c/o Soho House Group.

One of my favorite stores was En Avance, located in the heart of the Design District.  I had the opportunity to interview store owner, Karen Quinones, a worldly sweetheart!

What are your thoughts on Fashion's Night Out?

It's nice to see people coming out and supporting the efforts of fashion.  Since it's a pop-off for the season, it's great to see everyone getting excited about Fall fashion.

Can you tell me about your store and what types of items you carry?

I carry a lot of global designers so I travel and purchase items from all over - London, Milan, Spain, and even Istanbul.  I try to carry young, innovative designers so when someone comes in my store and they purchase a dress it won't be found in Saks or any other store.  I also work with designers who create items specifically for my store.  Since this is my 20th anniversary, I have a lot of limited edition pieces as well!

What's your favorite Fall trend this year? about color?  I'm really loving pops of bright colors, stoplight red, clementine, neon colors, and I also think navy is the new black.

Thanks so much, Karen and I love your store!

Join Me at Fashion's Night Out Miami 2012 with Exclusive Interviews and Access to the Best Events

Only a few more days left until the most celebrated fashion event takes place in the heart of Miami, and I am anxiously waiting.  I am teaming up with Fashion's Night Out Miami 2012 and The Beacon Council to bring you the best selection of events for this one-night celebration of fashion, special limited-edition products, runway events throughout Miami-Dade retailers, as well as exclusive designer and celebrity appearances.

On September 6th, fashionistas from all over the world will celebrate FNO in cities ranging from Los Angeles to South Korea and Japan.  To keep updated with exclusive events and interviews that I will be conducting throughout the night, make sure you follow me on Facebook at or Twitter and Instagram at @LynseeHeeKyeong !  You can also stay up to date by following @FNOmia and

I had the opportunity to speak with Pamela Fuertes, Vice President of International Economic Development for The Beacon Council and gain an exclusive interview from her perspective of this year's FNO!

What specific venues or stores are a must-see for attendees of FNO Miami?

"Great question, and truly, it depends on what the attendee is interested in; the Design District will have the participation of well-established brands such as Marni and Maison Margiela and Luminare, with The Webster.  Aventura Mall will have a special Michael Kors presentation; and a fashion show – along with the participation of their individual retailers (such as Macy’s and Bloomingdales).

Both at Bal Harbor Shops and Merrick Park, Neiman Marcus’ respectively will have special presentations and celebrity experiences; along with SAKS Fifth Avenue and Santa Maria Novella with charity events.

I think the best way to experience FNO-Miami is to pick a spot you rarely frequent, to discover something new and refreshing….and the participation is from hotels, alike, too – The W South Beach, Biltmore Hotel and EPIC, for example, that are having special Fashion’s Night Out Miami experiences --- with special themed menus and cocktails ---- there are many opportunities!"

Could you give me your perspective on how you view this year's event to be a success in the economic development region?

"I think Fashion’s Night Out – Miami is a really strong marker from which we have launched awareness and promotion about the fashion and retail industry of Miami-Dade County – and within that, in the larger scope, the creative design industry, which we know plays a very important role in the present and future development of our community."

What can new attendees of FNO expect to get out of this year's event, Pamela?

"Attendees can expect to experience a community-wide celebration of fashion and shopping – with a DESIGNED in MIAMI twist, which I think is what makes this year’s FNO-Miami celebration so special; my first Fashion’s Night Out experience was in Milan in 2009; and then in NYC in 2010 and one of the most impactful impressions I had in both cities, was the feeling of a community-wide participation in Fashion’s Night Out – people went for walks, boutiques had special promotions, give-aways, special window shopping displays – and regardless the budget, there was an opportunity for all to participate."

Don't forget, Fashion's Night Out is September 6th, 2012 from 6-11pm.  A comprehensive list of official FNO events is available at for my Miami locals or for those outside of Miami.
