Denim Shirt and Cut Out Ripped Jeans

"Much like my new-found addiction to Empire and Skinny Cow Snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches, my obsession with monstrous holes cut out of my skinny jeans is evident."

It's no secret that I love a good ol' denim shirt, like this one by Mavi.  What's better than that?  Not wearing a bra.  Over the course of my brassiere-wearing life, it was assumed that it was a necessary item that I absolutely must wear every single day.  Little did I know that those who are less inclined in the chest region don't really need to wear a boulder holder to operate.  This news is amaze balls to me.  While it's evident that I love wandering around bra-less throughout the streets of Miami (it's not as bad as it sounds), there's something I love even more...ripped denim jeans.

Much like my new-found addiction to Empire and Skinny Cow Snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches, my obsession with monstrous holes cut out of my skinny jeans is evident.  Despite multiple people inquiring about whether or not I purchased them that way or not, I rock them with no shame.  You better werk.  I'm also quite the sucker for a completely monochromatic look (see exhibit A-F from all previous blog posts).

Jaunty in Denim

If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably already are quite aware that I recently landed in my hometown for a fairly long trip (two weeks nonetheless) to see my family.  Despite feeling like I was freezing what body parts I had left, it was a relaxing time spent.  It's refreshing to be home, as it gives me time to sit still for a second.  Lounging, in the sartorial and physical senses, has never been something I have been incredibly well at accomplishing.  With that being said, jumpsuits or one-pieces are my go-to for casual wear.  What's even better than a jumpsuit?  A denim one of course.

On a sunny 10 o'clock in the Midwest, standing in 30-degree weather, this little number kept me nice and cozy while still attempting to remain chic in these lace-up metallic booties.

Dressing Up Jeans

Oddly enough, I rarely wear jeans (which I briefly discussed in a previous post) for the mere fact that my hips are wide and I find it utterly difficult find a pair of jeans that fit my frame just right.  Lo and behold, I do wear them on occasion.  Aside from the typical casual affair that goes hand-in-hand with wearing denim jeans, part of restyling pieces includes changing their average role completely.  Therefore, dressing up jeans seems appropriate at all times.  Rather than throwing a baggy t-shirt and tennis shoes on, which sounds dreamy, perhaps wearing a flared tube top and skyscraper heels may be applied.

The flared top adds a feminine aspect without making the hips look gargantuan, while the skyscraper heels prevent me from looking like an oompa loompa.   What's your preference for styling denim - casual or dressed up?

Amongst one of my favorite photo shoot locations, my tripod and I took a little jaunt to snap this little denim get up.  Despite the appearance of possibly looking as though I'm straight out of Dallas, the all-denim look is actually quite appealing to me.  The combination of pairing together various denims with a block heel sandal and favorite fedora keep it chic without the whole "cowboy Lynsee" feel.  One can't possibly sustain wearing an entire denim outfit consisting of the same pattern of denim, so my conclusion is to incorporate various textures and colors.

Upon completion of shooting this post (and attempting to shield myself from random peepers peering down on the rooftop of this building), I started thinking of other variations of head-to-toe denim that would be equally favorable.  How would you wear it?

Video: How to Style Denim featuring Bloomingdale's

Over the weekend, I was invited by Frankie B Jeans to view the Fall 2013 collection available at Bloomingdale's department stores.  Daniella Clark, the beautiful woman behind this edgy and sexy denim line, was at Bloomingdale's Aventura showcasing her new pieces while guests mingled and sipped on Cosmopolitan or chocolate martinis.  Daniella launched Frankie B. in 1999, and its authenticity and legitimacy as the glam gal's go-to denim collection quickly solidified.

Her denim collection features studded detailing, textures, vibrant prints and colors, as well as the most unbelievably comfortable material!  After trying them on for the first time, I couldn't believe how good they felt.  Denim is a versatile material that can be dressed up or down for various occasions.

Polished Denim.

Hey dolls!  One of my favorite aspects of denim is that it can be dressed up or down, so I decided to go for a casual chic look for today's outfit of the day.  I paired my favorite light washed skinny jeans by 2B Bebe with a delicate lace top and embellished blazer by ZARA.

To keep the look polished, I added a cap toe heel by Luichiny and rolled up the bottom portion of my jeans to pull it all together.  I wore this particular outfit to a meeting, but it could also be worn to a casual event or even dressed down with a pair of flats for a day of shopping.

Denim on Denim.

Pairing light-washed denim on denim has been a newfound love of mine, as it can be dressed up or down for multiple occasions.  2B Bebe's new signature denim in the "Ripped Serena Skinny" style have been my go-to pair of jeans lately.  I love the light destroying which adds an edge to the overall look, and the material is somewhat stretchy so it leaves breathing room for me.

For this particular look, I paired the denim jeans with a light-washed denim button-up from F21 which has silhouette pockets on the breast portion of the shirt.  To dress it up, I added a textured belt, metallic clutch and embellished heels from ZARA.

Beach Cookout Chic

Summer is in full effect, along with the sweltering sweat-dripping weather.  Today's look is one of my go-to outfits for an outdoor summer BBQ or Sunday Farmer's Market on Lincoln Road.  The simplicity of rocking a bandeau top (A bra in itself?  Yes please) and denim shorts gives this look a comfortably chic appeal that allows me to stay as cool as possible in Miami.

If wearing a bandeau by itself is a little too daring, throw on a sleeveless loose-fitting tank or graphic mesh top to make it a little more wearable.

New Video: How to Style a Denim Shirt

For some reason, I love Tuesdays and I'm not quite sure why.  The reason could be that it isn't the dreadful Monday OR because tonight is the private press reception to kick off Funkshion Fashion Week in Miami.  October 9th-12th is officially Funkshion Fashion Week which is always fun to check out if you're in the Miami area.  They have some pretty good designers lined up for this year's rendezvous of events.  After attending tonight's private press event I will post the line-up and do a little recap as well.

I recently posted a new video on my YouTube channel www.youtube.com/LynseeHeeKyeong where I show you how to style a denim shirt.  Well, it showcases how I style my denim shirt(s).  As many of you may already know, denim shirts are my go-to piece!  Enjoy :)

I Bleed Purple and Gold

I wanted to start off the week with a bit more casual look, so today's post features this loose-fitting tank, a leather jacket, and some DIY denim shorts that I created.  This weekend was pretty busy for me since my mother came into town to see my baby boy and myself (although I'm sure she only comes to spoil him and I just so happen to reside in the same place), but it was a great time.  I love spending time with my family because they keep me grounded.  Anyway, I have a lot of new home decor items that I can't wait to show you guys in a later post!  Lately, I've been revamping the decor in my place and I'm excited for you to see the finished look.

What I'm wearing:
Express leather jacket
Lakers tank
DIY custom shorts (I cut some old jeans up and added my own touch by piecing studs and leather on them with splashes of bleach)

Floral

My inspiration for this outfit derived from the latest issue of Vogue, where a woman was wearing a delicate lace top layered with a denim jacket and floral printed bottoms.  I tend to gravitate to magazines when I am looking for fashion inspiration.  I added a few accessories as my personal touch, along with a color-blocked daytime clutch and brown chunky heels.  These heels are the ideal daytime heel because they are so comfortable.

What I'm wearing:
F21 denim top
ZARA top
F21 shorts
Express sunglasses
Guess watch
Steve Madden clutch
