OOTD: The Holiday Dress

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and ate plenty of delicious food over the long weekend.  Everything is good in moderation, so I cooked a Thanksgiving meal this year and my son loved it.  I feel like he's at the age where he really appreciates good food (well, not really because he eats everything).  Anyway, today's look of the day is my favorite dress that I actually wore to a red carpet event but it could also apply as the perfect holiday party dress as well.

The detail on this BCBG dress is impeccable and so delicate.  It's feminine with just the right amount of sexy added to it.  I paired it with some nude pumps with rose gold hardware and accessories.

What I'm wearing:
BCBG dress (new season)
Steve Madden heels
ALDO bracelet

OOTD: Layered Denim

One of my favorite trends this season is denim because there are so many different ways to style this material.  I love how it can be dressed up or down and layered with various pieces as well.  I decided to style this look with a neutral yet feminine chic pairing, which makes it ideal for any setting.

What I'm wearing:
F21 blazer
Cotton On  denim shirt
Topshop shorts
F21 necklace
Target belt

OOTD: Hello, Goodbye Summer

Happy Monday everyone!  As we are all recovering from New York Fashion Week and starting off the new week, I thought I would share this outfit of the day which is one of my favorites on a hot Miami day.  Although it's cooling down in other areas, Miami seems to remain warm and humid (my hair is loving it of course).  When it's really hot outside, I tend to throw my hair up in a chic bun to keep it off my neck.  If you have thick hair, as I do, this is the perfect way to stay cool from head to toe!

A simple way to create a look that is both comfortable and weather-appropriate is to pair some colorful shorts with a basic white tank top.  I've also added open-toed platform sandals in a coral shade which complements the shorts.  If you'd like to see how I transformed this look into a Fall outfit, you can view it here:

What I'm wearing:
ZARA tank
Target shorts
H&M necklace
F21 earrings
Guess watch

Is everybody ready for the long Labor Day weekend?  Whether you're going to a family cookout, spending the weekend with your significant other or going out with friends, I have the perfect Labor Day outfits for you!  You can obviously switch up the pieces, depending on what you may have in your closet but this will give you a little insight on what you can pair together.  The saying is that you aren't suppose to wear white after Labor Day, but I say why not break the rules?  Go ahead and wear whatever works with your style.  What will you be wearing this weekend?

4th of July Outfit Ideas

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  For today's post, I'd like to share with you some of my favorite looks for the 4th of July.  I created a look for the beach, a party or a backyard BBQ.  These are just some ideas that you can recreate or put your own spin on them to make them your own.  Which one is your favorite?

OOTD: A Peek-a-boo Top

One of my favorite ways to create a feminine and sexy look is to show a little bit of skin with a peek-a-boo top like this denim one from a local boutique here.  I believe Forever 21 had one with a similar style as well.  A tip for keeping the look unified is to pair it with something that covers up the other areas of your body so you aren't revealing everything at once.  For example, I paired this top with a maxi skirt to balance out the overall look.

What I'm wearing:
Boutique blouse
Forever 21 maxi
Target belt
Target sandals
Forever 21 necklace

How to: Dress for your Body Type

One of the best things about being a woman is that we come in all shapes and sizes so there are no two alike except for the obvious.  What many women are unsure of is how to style looks specifically for their body types.  For example, the main body types are petite, hourglass, pear, or rectangular shaped.  Therefore, it's best to accentuate the "better" part of your body.  I've put together some looks that flatter each body type accordingly.

A petite body frame would look great with a peplum top because it cinches at the waist and flairs out to create a curvaceous appearance.  Pairing it with some nude heels helps elongate your legs to make them appear longer as well.

On the other hand, full-figured women look great in wrapped pieces like this blue dress.  A simple cinching at the waist with a slim belt makes the waistline look smaller and focuses on your gorgeous curves.  I paired this look with some short heels for comfort along with a simple black clutch.

For those of you who have an hour glass shape, wearing a brightly colored form-fitting top with a floral skirt will help balance out your proportioned body type to showcase your best features.  I've paired it with some chic sandal heels to stray away from too much going on with this outfit.

A pear-shaped woman is typically smaller on top and wider around the hip region, so what works really well is wearing a flowing dress that has detailing at the top to bring out the upper area more prominently.  The bottom portion of this dress lays freely, which slims out the wider area of the body.

Which body type are you or what kind of pieces do you wear to accentuate your body shape?

OOTD: Frills and Thrills

What I love about today's OOTD is how feminine it is.  Sometimes it just feels good to throw something on that makes me feel ultra girly, and this outfit does just that by incorporating a silk top with a delicate skirt and Mary Jane heels accented with bows.

What I'm wearing:
Cotton On top
F21 skirt
H&M clutch
F21 bracelet
Sally Hansen nail strips

OOTD: Weekend Chic

During the weekends, I spend plenty of time either working on projects or outdoors with my baby boy.  This is more of a casual look that I've pulled together incorporating one of my favorite fedoras from ZARA.  I paired it with a sheer blouse and some sequin shorts to give it a pop of femininity as well.  It's the perfect weekend attire!  Enjoy =]

What I'm wearing:
ZARA fedora
F21 blouse
Express shorts
F21 accessories

How To Revamp Your Spring Wardrobe: 10 Must-Haves

A great way to revamp your spring wardrobe can be done by simply adding (or keeping) 10 essential items for the new season.  There are a few trends that have carried over to the spring, so not all winter items have to be pushed to the back of your closet.

Here are my 10 essentials for the new season:

  1.  Neon - A lightweight neon top can make any outfit pop
  2. A Bright Blazer - Adding a cotton bright blazer completes the look
  3. Metallic Clutch - Pairing metallic accents with simple pieces or prints can look great together
  4. A Floral Dress - Every girl needs something very feminine in her closet, and what better way to pull it off than a pink floral dress?
  5. Lightweight Pants - I love to throw these on with a white tank underneath and a skinny belt
  6. Pastel - Without looking like an Easter egg, you can incorporate pastels in a subtle way by rocking light pinks, purple, mint green or light blue
  7. A Printed Blouse - These look wonderful underneath some high-waisted shorts or pants
  8. A Colorblocked Tote - Perfect beach bag
  9. A Bright Skinny Belt - The ideal way to cinch up a blouse, dress, or pants
  10. Simple Black Shorts - They go with everything!
