It's Labor Day weekend, which means I have one extra day of keeping my little man entertained for a full 24-hours without boring him of low energy activities.  Therefore, we decided to take a little road trip in the all new Lexus RX 350. Known to never disappoint, Lexus transformed this SUV into a driving experience of sophistication and captivating comfort. With a chiseled design and top-notch interior, it made the drive seamlessly smooth. Something I also noticed when backing up, is that the RX 350 has a blind spot monitor with cross-traffic braking. Essentially, the vehicle senses when one is too close to something and it will stop by itself. With plenty of space, this was perfect for our road trip (which wouldn't be complete without a snack stop at the gas station). What are your weekend plans?

Mazda MX-5

The ever evolving Mazda MX-5 has gone through four generations of innovations, but it has still obtained its authenticity of a lightweight sports car. Throughout my numerous driving experiences, I have to say that the all new MX-5 is probably one of the most fun vehicles to drive. The updated design also took me by surprise, as the top folds away in what seems to be a modern day bat mobile. However, it keeps its muscular stance and aggressiveness without sacrificing the sleek style of the exterior. Since it's known as an iconic roadster vehicle, I decided to take it out into the open roads near the Everglades, to test out the racing capabilities and see how it really performs. Check out the footage we captured below.

Ferrari 458 Spider

Let’s face it, Ferrari is the epitome of Italian excellence. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Ferrari 458 Spider and all of its unprecedented glory. Innovating the auto industry as the world’s first mid-rear-engine sports car with a retractable hard top, the 458 encompasses all things functional, style, comfort, and performance. Speaking of performance, let’s get to the real juice. Known for its racing capabilities, Ferrari developed the 458 with 562 horsepower and a maximum speed of 199 mph. Yes, please. Not to mention its ability to go form 0-62 mph in less than 3.4 seconds. Needless to say, Ferrari is well known for paying close attention to detail in every aspect of their vehicles and it shows with the 458 Spider. The nose has two small aero-elastic winglets which create downforce and with acceleration, contort to reduce drag. Of course, a fierce red number and Louboutins go quite well with the Ferrari 458 Spider.

Volvo XC90

If I'm going to be completely honest, I have never driven a Volvo prior to stepping foot into the 2017 Volvo XC90. To my surprise, it is a completely refined and luxurious vehicle with spacious interior. Every aspect of the car works in harmony - from the finest soft Nappa leather and flame birchwood, to handcrafted detailed diamond-cut buttons and a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, to name a few.  Another impressive feature that I noticed was its Hybrid, twin engine that boosts 400 horsepower yet remains so quiet and calm throughout the driving experience. With a rear cooling compartment for beverages, massage function seating, and endless smart capabilities, you could basically live in this vehicle.

Mazda CX-3

The 2017 Mazda CX-3 can only be described as something similar to the elegance of a wild animal in the instant prior to pouncing on its prey. Um, hello.  That's quite possibly the only type of vehicle I want to drive. Its exterior design has a nice balance of rich body contouring with incredible short overhangs and simple lines that express energy and movement.  Of course, the interior gives it its true character though.  Textures and neutral colors are combined to give it a sense of sporty refinement, which is what I like to consider myself.  Sporty refinement.  No?  It was worth a shot.  Aside from its beauty, the all new CX-3 offers Active Driving Display to help keep your mind focused on the driving experience without distraction. Last but not least, Mazda Connect and the Bose 7-speaker surround sound system allotted time, before I dropped my son off at school, for morning jam sessions with my five-year-old.  Ju-ju on that beat was streaming through those bad boys all day.

Acura ILX

Back at it again with another beauty, but this automobile is not just any traditional compact sport-sedan. The 2017 Acura ILX completely redefines its category, with aggressive styling and bold accents. The style and sporty 201-hp engine almost remind me of the driving experience of a Cadillac, in the sense that it revels in luxury and class.  As always, pick-up speed is one of my favorite aspects or noted features when I'm driving cars and this one is quite a beast.

It's particularly impressive in its smart capabilities, with Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) which uses a forward-facing camera mounted above the inside rearview mirror to proactively keep the ILX in the center of its detected lane. Therefore, one doesn't have to worry about veering off into other lanes during the driving experience. All in all, the new Acura ILX is rather impressive this time around.

Mitsubishi Mirage G4

Allow me to introduce the 2017 Mitsubishi G4, as bold and beautiful as she wants to be.  I had the pleasure of driving the all new car recently, and was quite impressed with its performance and technological capabilities. It has some fantastic smart features that allow for little distraction throughout the driving experience. For example, its CarPlay capability allows your phone to sync directly with the vehicle for a completely hands-free feature where it reads your text messages to you. It also offers the option to type out messages as replies, check voicemail, call contacts, etc.

Aside from its techie aspects, the automobile is quite purse-friendly if you're looking to purchase a car that won't hit too hard on the pockets. Although I would like quicker acceleration, it's extremely fuel-efficient. I know this, because I basically drove all around the world before having to fill it up.

Toyota RAV4

Believe it or not, I vowed to never become one of those caravan soccer-mom drivers after I had my son. There was something about driving an oversized minivan that did not scream, "I have arrived." However, I have opened up to crossovers or SUV's. The 2017 Toyota RAV4 Crossover has been an absolute breeze to drive, and it's not too bad on the eyes either. Its bold and chiseled exterior gives it an athletic touch, yet it remains refined with elegant interior.

Let me break it down for you. After I stepped inside the vehicle for the first time, I utilized the Smart Key System and pressed the ignition. I thought to myself, "do you hear that?" Absolutely nothing. The RAV4 has such a quiet start that I turned the vehicle off and back on, to make sure it was accurate. Aside from that, it's spacious enough to fit my whole life and then some. It also has an incredibly proven hybrid powertrain and great fuel efficiency. What surprised me the most was its 194 horsepower, which gave it sporty acceleration (we all know I love this aspect of cars).

Mitsubishi Outlander

For the past week, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing the all new Mitsubishi Outlander - and an excellent experience it has been. It came as a surprise when I stepped into the vehicle, as the Outlander offers spacious seating and leg-room for up to seven passengers with its standard third-row seating. Another aspect of the interior that I could appreciate is its sophistication of leather seating surfaces and leather-wrapped accents. The gloss black and chrome interior detailing also gave it a touch of luxury that reflected a stylistic approach.

The Outlander’s ECO Mode employs energy saving measures that allow it to switch from 2WD to 4WD only when necessary, ensuring that you’re getting the best fuel economy and lowest emissions. The vehicle also warns you when it’s necessary to brake, or if you are nearing another vehicle too closely it will brake by itself. Therefore, the new Mitsubishi Outlander not only has beauty, but brains as well.

Kia Soul

Let's be completely honest here. I experienced the 2016 Kia Soul Crossover quite some time ago, but it was somehow tucked away in the archives. However, that doesn't take away from the overall experience. The vehicle essentially caters to you digitally, as it controls your smartphone, music, entertainment, etc. It's also perfectly "cool mom" approved, with its Designer Collection exterior colors and sleek body molding. I was also rather impressed with the size, as I was expecting it to fit those who are similar to a hamster (like the commercials). It's actually extremely spacious and smooth to cruise around Miami in.

Lincoln MKX

The new 2016 Lincoln MKX combines power, innovation, and class. More specifically, technology is becoming a key aspect of our everyday lives, and the MKX is one primary example of such. Lincoln Drive Control takes driving to a new level, as its advanced suite of sensors consistently monitors the vehicle's movement, steering, and braking. There was an instance where I left one of the doors open as I was leaving my parking garage, and the MKX stopped itself completely until I closed the door.

Ultimately, the new Lincoln MKX offers a luxurious driving experience by monitoring interaction between the vehicle and its passengers. The system connects with its driver by adjusting the firmness of the steering wheel to provide a smooth drive, while hugging the passenger with 22-way multi contour seats and heated/cooling settings. Miami most certainly calls for cooled seating and seats that hug your butt. Who doesn't love that?
