Miami Heat

The weekend is creeping around the corner, which means it's time to paint the town red.  As another week discontinues, stepping out in a complete black ensemble is an absolute essential look for any woman.  When in doubt, pair something leather with a red lip and trek on.  One can't go wrong with a Rita Ora signature lip and black on black.  One of my favorite aspects of residing in Miami Beach is the option to wear spaghetti-thin strapped tops and thigh-baring leather skits only a few short days after New Year's.  It's quite grandiose if you ask me.

This sexy skirt ℅ of Hot Miami Styles is a new favorite of mine, as it bares a little skin without sacrificing your dignity and allows for flexibility.  Attempting to walk around Miami Beach in a pencil skirt can be next to impossible, but the high slit on this one keeps it comfortable.

The New Classics

Festive avoidance has suit me quite well over previous years, that is, until I had a little man enter the world.  I don't enjoy eating ham, turkey, drinking beer, or devouring endless amounts of Holiday cookies while sitting cozily around the fireplace with my entire extended family.  However, I do believe in spending quality time with family over the Holidays.  Hence, my current residency (for the next week) in the Midwest to visit the family.

One might believe that I am beginning to sound like a complete grinch, but I am going somewhere with this…I think.

So once I birthed my son, all possibilities of avoiding Holiday spirit went out the door along with my ability to refrain from hiding this little Elf on the Shelf character, master the art of gift wrapping thousands of gifts, and get away with no Holiday decor.  Despite all of this, it's become quite festively interesting to create so much joy for my little guy.  Additionally, I've busted out the Holiday fashion looks (which brings me to today's post).  If there's any staple piece that should be in every woman's life, it's a moto jacket (a green one suitably works for the Holidays).  This green moto jacket that I was gifted by GUESS is one of my absolute favorites from their Holiday collection and needless to say, I'll be rocking it quite often.

Another classic piece is obviously the little black dress, but style is also defined by finding new ways to switch pieces up (like layering a flouncy A-line skirt over a textured black dress).  It creates intricate depth and less of a boring look for this time of year.

Amongst one of my favorite photo shoot locations, my tripod and I took a little jaunt to snap this little denim get up.  Despite the appearance of possibly looking as though I'm straight out of Dallas, the all-denim look is actually quite appealing to me.  The combination of pairing together various denims with a block heel sandal and favorite fedora keep it chic without the whole "cowboy Lynsee" feel.  One can't possibly sustain wearing an entire denim outfit consisting of the same pattern of denim, so my conclusion is to incorporate various textures and colors.

Upon completion of shooting this post (and attempting to shield myself from random peepers peering down on the rooftop of this building), I started thinking of other variations of head-to-toe denim that would be equally favorable.  How would you wear it?

Since my lifetime of residing in Miami, it is around this time of the year that I consequently wear crop tops day and night.  As personal protocol, I have not left my condo without throwing on one of these shoulder-baring, abdominal highlighting pieces.  Although the standard theory for a "little black dress" is every breathing woman's go-to outfit selection past 8 P.M., I've exercised a permutation that is sexy enough to stop a little traffic but wearable during the day.

The symmetry and proportions of this particular crop top pair quite well with a draped skater skirt (which I have been perpetually wearing on a regular basis).  The ab-baring piece is also quite flattering for my fellow smaller-chested friends, as it accentuates the shape with a deep slit.  Oh, and Beyonce wore this same top.  Winning.

ASOS Miami Swim Lounge

Prior to my New York City trip there were a number of brunches, cocktail receptions, pool parties and runway shows filled by bikini-clad models for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami.  Despite being able to reminisce on each and every one, there are particular ones that stand out the most.  One that I did enjoy was the ASOS Miami Swim Lounge at Soho Beach House, featuring sun-drenched media, bloggers and other VIP guests for a quick poolside brunch and preview of the latest ASOS pieces.

Sporty Chic Look + a GIVEAWAY to Meet Jillian Michaels & Shaun T (CLOSED)

Although my outfits are typically dressed up, I decided to play around with the sporty look and feel for today's look of the day.  Focusing on these paneled House of Dion pants, I went for a more structured approach by cinching layered tops at the waist with a leather belt by ASOS.  The cinched belt adds a feminine touch that creates a balance between sporty and chic.

This look is really great for those who have a smaller frame because it accentuates the top and hip area to give a curvaceous appeal.  My inspiration for this look derives from my love for health and fitness, which I really wanted to merge into a uniform outfit.  Pairing a sporty piece such as paneled pants, a sporty skirt or shorts with a feminine top can really create a polished look.

Cobalt.

Cobalt blue is the new black for the fall season, and I've been in love with this long gown by ASOS for quite some time now.  Believe it or not, I've had this dress hanging in my closet but haven't found the right event to wear it to.  It's perfect to bust out for a date night or special event.

The thigh high slit adds a really seductive aspect to the dress, without going over the top.  Its high neckline keeps the overall look of it classy and elegant paired with a strappy heel.  These particular heels are by Steve Madden, and I absolutely love the style of these shoes!

The back of this dress is what makes it the ultimate date night look, as its deep plunge extends to the lower back to balance everything out while maintaining elegance. A metal belt could be added for a strong addition, but I wanted to keep it simple and focus on the dress for this particular pairing.

Anarchic.

Despite my love for feminine pieces, I've been playing around with the punk trend for the new season.  The runways have been showcasing everything from tartan, vinyl and chains, to studs and spikes.  Therefore, one of my new favorite items is this studded A-line skirt by 2B Bebe.  I love how it encompasses the figure of a woman by minimizing the waist line and accentuating the curves by the shape of the skirt.

To neutralize the look, I'm rocking the 2B skirt with a simple graphic tee and cinching the skirt at the waist with a gold-plated belt.  Of course, you can't really go wrong with a strappy heel and I'm really loving these shoes by Steve Madden.
