Although I love the warm climate of Miami, I recently flew up north for the holidays to spend time with my family and get a taste of the cold weather. When I say cold, I don’t mean a slight breeze. As I pried open my eyes this morning and gazed out into the snow covered grass, I couldn’t help but cringe at the sight of it. There’s something about the bitter feeling of being slapped in the face with cold when I step outside that doesn’t make me scream for joy. On the other hand, it gives me the opportunity to layer wardrobe pieces and rock my winter boots or jackets.
I typically live in strappy sandal heels and skirts, but I’ve really been loving the fact that I can wear my winter pieces while I’m traveling for the holidays. Aside from fashion, the snow on the ground makes it feel much more like the holidays are approaching. Christmas lights on palm trees just don’t express the holidays quite as well.
Lately, my go-to denim has been DL 1961’s Emma in Athens jeans which are the perfect fit and provide the most slimming silhouette. The jeans have more of a legging-jean fit with faux front pockets, which I love because they make legs look slimmer without bulky pockets.
I’ve also been loving the punk-inspired trend, which I’ve incorporated in this look by simply wrapping a plaid shirt around my waist along with a graphic top and leather jacket. It’s such a quick and easy way of pulling a look together that is chic yet comfortable.
